(Clearwisdom.net) On July 20, 2007, Falun Gong practitioners from Pingtung, Taiwan held a candlelight vigil in front of the County Cultural Bureau. Several high school principals in Pingtung gave speeches, calling for an end of the persecution. A representative of the Coalition to Investigate the Persecution of Falun Gong (CIPFG) announced that CIPFG will call for a boycott of the 2008 Olympics to be held in Beijing in protest of the CCP's atrocities.
The candlelight vigil
Falun Gong practitioner Zhang Suxing said: "The Chinese Communist Party (CCP) launched the persecution of Falun Gong practitioners on July 20, 1999. In the last eight years, more than 3,000 Falun Gong practitioners have been confirmed to have died as a result of the persecution. Today, we hold this candlelight vigil in memory of them and call for an end of the persecution."
Ms. Shi Hongchuan, the principal of Tunghsin High School, said that Falun Gong practitioners are good people and should not be persecuted. She called on everyone to help stop the persecution.
Ms. Hsu Yifan, the principal of Chutian High School, said that people in the free world cannot imagine how Falun Gong practitioners have been persecuted in China. He pointed out that Jiang Zemin and his followers have mobilized the entire country of China to carry out the persecution.
Mr. Yang Chiunan, the principal of Saichia Elementary School, said that the Chinese Communist Party ignores basic human rights and such a tyrant power should not exist in the 21st century. He called for an end of the persecution.
