(Clearwisdom.net) During the Opium Wars, when China ceded territories as compensation to invading foreign troops, China's national pride suffered a grave wound. For more than a hundred years the Chinese people have been dreaming about restoring the heroic stature of their ancestors to stand towering among the world's nations with a new face. The quadrennial Olympics are a chance for the Chinese people to fulfill their grand wish to host the Olympics and display their graceful spirit.
Unfortunately, this national sentiment has been hijacked and abused by the CCP. The Chinese people's expectations concerning the Olympics have become the CCP's blanket excuse for its vicious actions. For instance, from June to September 2006, in the name of the Olympics, Beijing authorities closed 50 schools run by peasant workers. When considered logically, these peasant workers have contributed a lot to Beijing's development. Their children's compulsory education should be taken care of by the government (the expense of which is a mere drop in the bucket when compared to the six hundred billion in public money spent on fine wining and dining by CCP officials every year). The CCP refused to shoulder its responsibility to educate these children, who are forbidden because of their peasant status from attending regular schools, as a result of closing these 50 schools.
On October 31, 2006, Li Fengqiu, a Dafa practitioner from Jinzhou, was arrested by Jinzhou Taihe party officials and the Xijiao police and sent to the notorious Masanjia Forced Labor Camp in Shenyang, Liaoning Province. The CCP employed the excuse that "Falun Gong opposes the Olympics," and said that it was an order from the province to arrest her. Director General Wang of the city police station signed the order.
On April 14, 2007, six Dafa practitioners from Shanhaiguan, Qingdao City, Hebei province were arrested by local police. On April 28 Dafa practitioners Liu Changfu, Yang Xiaoyong, Wei Danquan, Liu Yumin, and Cheng Chao were sent to the forced labor camp. They had committed no crime. The arresting officers bragged that a higher-level official had appropriated special funds, more than one hundred thousand yuan, to uncover a so-called "Falun Gong conspiracy to demolish the Olympics." They said it only took them two days to uncover the plot. From this we can see that hosting the Olympics has become another CCP excuse to escalate the persecution of Falun Gong.
The Chinese people look forward to the Olympics because they hope the Olympic spirit of tolerance, understanding, friendship, peace, and justice can develop in China. They believe that the Olympics can truly promote freedom in Chinese society. They expect human rights to improve. They also want to demonstrate that Chinese people can peacefully coexist with other nationalities, and are not the automatons the CCP wishes to make of them.
It's unfortunate that the CCP has been working in opposition to the Chinese people's hopes. The CCP works counter to the Olympic spirit and fails to concur with international society's longing to improve China's human rights. Since 2001, when the CCP was named to host the Olympics, human rights in China have continued to deteriorate. Human rights for all Chinese citizens, from human rights advocates, human rights attorneys, political dissidents, journalists, those who appeal to the government, to Falun Gong practitioners are widely violated and completely trampled. The CCP uses harassment, surveillance, house arrests, beatings, brutal torture and so on to persecute people. The persecution of Falun Gong is the worst. The CCP even harvests organs from living Falun Gong practitioners to make money, and prevents all attempts for international investigation.
In 2005, a magazine revealed that Liu Jing, Vice Minister of China's Public Security Bureau, received orders to eliminate Falun Gong, and sent orders to security departments everywhere. Where are the Olympic ideals of justice, understanding and tolerance?
According to a police source, in early April 2007, the Police Ministry delivered a secret notice to the police of every province, autonomous region, and municipality about rigorously examining the backgrounds of those who apply to attend the Olympics. The notice excluded thousands of Chinese people and foreigners from attending the 2008 Olympics. Where is the spirit of equality the Olympics promotes? The notice was highly detailed. Excluded are those who promote different ideologies, Falun Gong practitioners, those critical of the CCP and the government, and those who "collude" with "foreign influences." All in all, it divides people based on their beliefs, a classic CCP tactic.
The CCP wants to use the Olympics to co-opt the Chinese people's national sentiment for its own purposes, and as ever, to sweeten its own reputation. This is counter to Olympic ideals that both the Chinese people and the international community yearn for. The 1936 Berlin Olympics were abused in a similar way by the Nazis, to the enduring shame of the German people. Every Chinese person should be mindful of this.
The CCP is the most notorious and evil criminal institution in China. It has killed 80 million Chinese people. It persecutes people with righteous beliefs and eliminates traditional culture, destroys social morality and devastates the environment. In what way is it qualified to host the Beijing Olympics? How could it ever demonstrate the true Chinese spirit?
The answer is clear. The Chinese people need genuine Olympic games hosted by Chinese people who've broken away from the control of Communism.
