Whereas, Falun Dafa practitioners are joyously celebrating The 8th Annual World Falun Dafa Day on May 13th, 2007, with festivals and events to be held across the United State and worldwide; and,
Whereas, Falun Dafa's contribution to society has been widely recognized and honored around the world since Mr. Li Hongzhi introduced it to the public in 1992; and
Whereas, Falun Dafa is an advanced exercise and meditation practice of mind, body, and spirit based on the principles of Truthfulness, Compassion and Forbearance; and,
Whereas, the teachings of Falun Dafa, through meditation and spiritual cultivation, are perceived as an effective means of improving overall mental and physical health, as well as reducing stress; and,
Whereas, transcending culture and racial boundaries, Falun Dafa has touched the lives of more than 100 million people in over 60 countries, including many people in New York State, of different ages, professions and racial backgrounds; and,
Whereas, the persecution of the practitioners of Falun Dafa is an attack on basic human rights and should not be tolerated anywhere in the world; and,
Whereas, history has often taught us that the merit of any society can and will be measured by the actions of those individuals and organizations who, by way of unparalleled exhibitions of diligence and conviction, inspire those fortunate to bear witness; now, therefore, be it
Resolved, as a duly elected member of the New York State Assembly, I congratulate the practitioners of Falun Dafa and declare May 13th World Falun Dafa Day honoring Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance.
