(Clearwisdom.net) On May 20, 2007, a parade in memory of Martin Luther King was held on Fifth Avenue in Manhattan, New York. Falun Gong practitioners were invited to the parade.

Falun Gong practitioners' group consisted of the Divine Land Marching Band, fairy ladies dancing team, exercise demonstration team and waist drum team. Their performances were very welcomed by the spectators, and many people took photos and videos of them.
The organizers of the parade thanked practitioners for their contributions. They expressed that practitioners' performances were very impressive, and made the parade special. They said more people were willing to stop and enjoy the parade because of Falun Gong practitioners' performances. Ms. Georgia Heyward, the coordinator of the Falun Gong group, said that many people stopped to watch practitioner's rehearsals and ask for more information about Falun Gong.
A Minghui (Chinese version of Clearwisdom) commentary article published on May 3, "Overcoming Hardship," said,
"Falun Gong practitioners not only proactively and broadly expose the CCP's persecution, but also provide people with information about China's divinely inspired culture. Falun Gong practitioners are not 'pitiful' victims, but practitioners that 'overcame hardship.' In the future, people will be unable to forget them, not only because they were tenacious and did not compromise despite the unprecedented persecution by the Communist party, but also because their spirits transcended the torture and hardships suffered during the persecution, and they were able to bring wonderfulness and hope to the human world. The manifestation of their belief of 'Truthfulness, Compassion, Forbearance' is touching people's heart. It is perhaps the most important gift they are giving to the world's people."
Ms. Georgia Heyward expressed that more and more New Yorkers are willing to learn about Falun Gong, support Falun Gong and welcome Falun Gong.
