On April 25, 1999, when ten thousand Falun Dafa practitioners silently and calmly stood in front of the State Appeals Office outside the west gate of Zhongnanhai to appeal and to clarify the truth, Dafa had already been widely spreading in the world for seven years. Dissolving cunning with sincerity, withstanding evil with total compassion, with great forbearance overcoming the evil party's criticism and denunciation--the tools it has used for half a century --- only disciples of Dafa, who follow the principle of Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance, are able to do this.
From then until today, Dafa practitioners in China and the rest of the world have given so much in resisting the persecution, clarifying the truth and saving sentient beings. All these efforts have made this monument of "April 25" seem even more majestic.
In this eighth year of memorializing "April 25," I remember a very ordinary and common Dafa practitioner. She was a young woman, and she obtained Dafa a month before April 25, 1999. Back then when she stood on the street on the right side of Zhongnanhai with many other Dafa practitioners, she had a simple but clear feeling: she was so glad that she obtained this pure, unselfish and universal Dafa. She told me that three months later, on July 20th, she went to appeal again, and she was arrested and sent back to her hometown, which was a remote rural county in Heilongjiang Province. She was put into a detention center. She said the detention center was full of Dafa practitioners who had gone to Beijing to appeal and were sent back. The detention center used all sorts of torture, but it could not make Dafa practitioners give up reciting the Fa and doing the exercises. The police therefore started to use another evil method: besides eating and going to bathroom, they would not allow Dafa practitioners to do anything but lie on boards inside the cells. One week, two weeks, one month, and two months passed, but from young to old ages, all Dafa practitioners still kept studying the Fa with smiles on their faces. In the end, all of the police officers in the detention center were shocked: "These Dafa practitioners really do have Gong! For ordinary people, if they were to lie down for two weeks, they would be paralyzed."
She said while she was lying on the board, she was able to learn to memorize many writings by the Master. As she traveled back and forth from Beijing at such a young age, and as she saw many of her young peers fall down because of money and benefits, she felt so lucky that Dafa saved her life at the edge of a cliff and taught her that the real purpose of human life is to return to one's original self. Three months later, she walked out the detention center with strong righteous thoughts. As she studied the Fa more and more, she realized Dafa's meaning to one's life from a rational understanding. She was able to let go of life and death. With selflessness and altruism, she spent all her efforts to clarify the truth to the world's people who are poisoned by the lies of the evil party.
For these past several years, although she has always been under persecution, she has never regretted her commitment to Falun Dafa's principle of Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance. She has always thought of saving sentient beings as her responsibility. At the end of 2005, she was again abducted illegally by the evil Party; and as of now, her whereabouts are unknown.
I know many touching stories about Dafa practitioners. But this fellow practitioner's extraordinary experience occupies my mind at this moment. In these eight years, during which the evil and depraved forces have madly persecuted Falun Gong, what Dafa practitioners have suffered and the efforts they have put forth have all solidly proven that only those who are forged by Dafa possess the characteristics of selflessness and fearlessness.
"April 25" is such a towering historic milestone! After hundreds of years or even billions of years, humans will forever have a fresh memory of this day. In the battle between good and evil, in some sense, "April 25" is the beginning of Dafa establishing a solid foundation in the human world; it is Dafa's infinite compassion that has given humans a chance to enter the eternal future.
