(Clearwisdom.net) Since its publication on July 6, 2006, the "Report Into Allegations of Organ Harvesting of Falun Gong Practitioners in China" authored by former Canadian Secretary of State (Asian Pacific) David Kilgour and international human rights lawyer David Matas has received more and more attention. After two months of independent investigation, the two investigators concluded that the allegations were true and the atrocities are still taking place in China.
Report into Allegations of Organ Harvesting
On October 10, David Matas was invited to present the findings of his report at an open forum hosted by the Malaysia Bar Association. The report caught the attention of many law professionals and non-governmental organizations (NGOs). After listening to Mr. Matas' presentation, Malaysian human rights attorney Edmund Bon decided to join the Coalition to Investigate the Persecution of Falun Gong (CIPFG) to help collect more evidence of the persecution and the organ harvesting. Many others said they would study the report and then decide whether to join the (CIPFG).
In addition, the website of the Malaysia Bar Association posted an article about the forum. At the end of the article, it was stated: More than 90 people including many lawyers, reporters and students attended the forum and obtained a better picture on the organ harvesting atrocities. Many forum attendees believe that the world should focus on this and seek a solution immediately if such allegations are true.
International Human Rights Day
On December 10, the International Human Rights Day, Falun Gong practitioners were invited to participate in the Human Rights Day Parade organized by the Bar Association. The parade started at 8 a.m. Starting from Independence Square in Kuala Lumpur, the practitioners marched along Congress Road to the Congress Building, then turned into a park on the lake shore. After the parade, the organizers thanked the practitioners for their active participation.
On the following day, the Association s website posted articles about the parade. In related articles, links to practitioners activities, including group practice, parade and organ harvesting reenactment were provided.
Coalition to Investigate the Persecution of Falun Gong Asia
On December 19, at a press conference, three Malaysian lawyers and one non-government organization joined the Coalition to Investigate the Persecution of Falun Gong Asia. This Asia chapter of the CIPFG was established on December 10, International Human Rights Day. Currently, all Malaysian members of the CIPFG Asia are lawyers.
At the press conference, attorney Edmund Bon called on the Chinese Communist regime to allow the international community to enter China to perform an independent investigation of the persecution of Falun Gong. Bon said that statistics showed that in the past two weeks a series of articles about the persecution posted on the website of the Malaysia Bar Association had 8,000 to 10,000 visitors every day.
Attorney Bon is a renowned human rights lawyer in Malaysia. He is a member of the Human Rights Committee and the chair of the Young Lawyers Committee of the Association. He is also a legal consul for the UN Refugee Agency, SUARAM and HAKAM.
