In light of the capture of Saddam Hussein, I would like to suggest that former Chinese President Jiang Zemin be tried for his campaign of genocide against the gentle Falun Dafa group.
In July 1999, Jiang launched a violent campaign against members of the group, including arbitrary imprisonment and beatings and other torture. Details of 842 deaths have been documented among the hundreds of thousands who have been detained. Jiang is the top "scoundrel" cited by Amnesty International, with crimes placing him in the company of Saddam, Milosevic, and Pinochet.
In targeting Falun Dafa, Jiang went against the decision of China's premier and the entire Politburo Standing Committee, which had previously advocated for Falun Dafa. The government now uses significant resources to block information on this genocide from the Chinese people, as well as the rest of the world and also to publish propaganda (such as the book Jiang handed President Bill Clinton in 1999, in New Zealand).
Though it comes as no surprise to most people that the Chinese government lies about Falun Dafa, when the campaign is done so thoroughly and on such a large scale, the effect is to encourage people to turn the other way. Its methods aim to "transform" Falun Dafa practitioners ultimately to strip them of their beliefs.
Consider if the Nazis had used brainwashing to force Jews to renounce Judaism to condemn Moses, burn the Torah and help "transform" other Jews. We have promised ourselves to never again allow genocide on the scale of Auschwitz. Now is the time to step up and bring Jiang to justice.
