Facts of the Persecution

In July 2003, the police from Shanghai Jinan Police Station and National Security Ministry abducted Guangzhou practitioner Lin Xiang. After spending four months at Jinan Detention Center, he was sentenced to two years in a forced labor camp. On November 5, Mr. Lin was transferred to Shanghai No.3 Labor Camp, where he is currently jailed and being tortured. Mr. Lin has been assigned to the so-called "Special Discipline Team". He is being forced to work over fourteen hours a day, even though his health is very poor.

News from China

My name is Tang Aixiang. I was employed at SITC Container Lines Co., LTD, which is a subsidiary of SITC Maritime (Group) Co., LTD in Shandong Province. I was hired after graduating from college in July 2000. I have personally witnessed that the company managers follow the orders of Jiang's regime to persecute Falun Gong. The company bulletin board has a special area for displaying posters that slander Falun Dafa. The company organized a so-called signature collection activity, in which employees were told to sign their names on slanderous articles. The company also requires employees to include statements indicating that they are against Falun Gong in their labor contracts; otherwise, they will be fired. On December 11, 2003, because I refused to put such statements into my employment contract, I was dismissed from my job long before my contract renewal date of 12/31/2003)

Yuan Lingyue, the assistant captain in the women's camp at Dalian Labor Camp, frenziedly tortures Falun Dafa practitioners who refuse to give up their beliefs. She conspired with others to beat Ms. Wang Qiuxia to death. Yuan instructed others to use the "stretch torture"¹ on female practitioners . The perpetrators then stuffed filthy rags into the practitioner's mouths and violently poked wooden sticks into their vaginas. Yuan also ordered the torture of practitioners using a method called "five horses splitting the body"². The practitioners felt like their bodies were being torn apart. Furthermore, Yuan had a thug assault the women's vaginas with a stick, which resulted in severe injuries and bleeding. The practitioners were injured so severely that the blood would flow down their legs and onto the floor. Yuan would further punish a practitioner by forcing her to stand in one position for a very long time. Even the thugs Yuan employs think that she is ruthless. In the last three years, six practitioners have died from torture at Dalian Labor Camp (Cheng Jiafu, Liu Yonglai, Sun Lianxia, Wang Quixia, Yu Linxing, and Zheng Wei)

In Shijiazhuang City, the local Political and Judiciary Team, Yuhua District Police Department, and Yuqiang Police Station went all out to persecute Falun Gong. In June 2003, they arrested Falun Dafa practitioner, Qi Hongjin, and sentenced her to two years in a forced labor camp without a trial. They ransacked her home and confiscated her property worth approximately 10,000 yuan. [500 yuan is the average monthly income for an urban worker in China.] Furthermore, the police deceived Qi's husband, Yang Zhixiong, who is also a Falun Dafa practitioner. Yang was working in Beijing at that time. He was illegally detained when he returned home after being deceived by the police. Yang is currently jailed at No. 2 Detention Center. The police went to Mr. Yang's residence in Beijing and confiscated everything, including the deed to the apartment and 5,000 yuan in cash.

Zhen Dapeng, a Falun Dafa practitioner, was an outstanding student at Jilin University of Technology. Right before his graduation and entrance examination for graduate school, Mr. Zhen was abducted by the police in his hometown and sent to prison, where he was subjected to inhuman tortures. Mr. Zhen has been imprisoned at Changlinzi Labor Camp in Harbin City for over a year now. He is very ill and being kept with patients that have severe tuberculosis. Mr. Zhen is in critical condition. His parents have spent over 10,000 Yuan trying to buy his release. They have spent so much money that they are almost bankrupt; and yet their efforts have not yielded any result so far.

In the middle of September 2002, police officer Zhang Wugu from Minzhu Police Station of Achen City ransacked Falun Gong practitioner Ge Zhenghua's home and took him away against his will. At the police station, Mr. Ge was threatened, coerced, and lured to give up his belief in Falun Dafa. He was also told to name other practitioners, but Mr. Ge refused to yield to their demands. He was later sent to Changlinze Labor Camp. Mr. Ge is covered in cuts and bruises, and he is still being forced to do hard labor every day.

The evil deeds of people at Tao County, Handan City, Hebei Province:

· Yang Zhaosheng, head of the Political and Judiciary Committee of Tao County, arrested and beat Falun Dafa practitioners on many occasions. The money he extorted from practitioner's families amounts to tens of thousands. In addition, he often harasses practitioners.

· Xu Shengjun, head of Handan Police Station of Tao County, has abducted Falun Dafa practitioners many times, and he also was the manager of a brainwashing center. He sent Falun Dafa practitioner Ms. Liu Guifen to a forced labor camp.

· De Fenghai, director of Tao County Police Department, was directly responsible for ordering the abduction of many Falun Dafa practitioners.

On December 30, 2003, Chunqing Falun Dafa practitioner Ms. Qiu Cuixiang was passing out truth-clarify materials near her home. Police from Xinqiao Police Station of Shapingba District arrested her. In broad daylight, the police twisted and broke Ms. Qiu's right arm. While she was held at the police station, Ms. Qiu clarified the facts to the police and others who were there. She shouted, "Falun Dafa is the righteous Fa, Falun Dafa is good!" for several hours without stopping. Later, she was sent to a hospital to set her broken arm. Afraid of being held responsible for her injuries, the police sent her home immediately.

Ms. Guan Yuqing is a Falun Dafa practitioner from Gaoleng Forestry Administration of Fangzheng County, Heilongjiang Province. Although she was forced to leave her home in order to avoid further persecution, she was found and abducted by police around 11:00 pm on December 25, 2003. The police officers came from Fangzheng County, and they abducted Ms. Guan in Xingxin Village, Dongxin Township, Lindian County, Daqing City. The head of Dongxin Township Police Station and the head of the Xingxin Village also participated in the arrest.

News from Overseas

On New Year's Day 2004, the 115^th annual Rose Bowl Parade was held in Pasadena, California. This annual parade is one of the New Year celebration spectacles in America. Falun Dafa practitioners from Los Angeles handed out a large number of flyers along the parade route before and after the parade. Some practitioners from San Diego and Las Vegas also came to help out. People happily accepted the flyers, including many Chinese.

I'm part of a big family. Whenever we got together, I would try to promote Falun Dafa and clarify the truth to my family members. The results, however, were not very good. In June 2003, my mother-in-law became sick. Although she has five sons and three daughters, no one helped her except me. I went to her home to care for her every day. I brought her medicine, did her laundry, helped her take a bath, and took her to the hospital. She was bedridden and had difficulty with her bowel movements. So, I used my hand to help her. The old lady was moved to tears. In the end, she passed away with deep respect for Falun Gong. My siblings shared the opinion that my practice of Falun Gong was not in vain. They said my character had improved a lot compared to my old self, and I was like a completely different person. The elders in the family also said that the tremendous improvements after I started practicing Falun Gong were so noticeable that it was as if I had been reborn. They finally believe that practicing Falun Gong benefits people, does not cause any harm, and that the government is lying and fabricating stories. All the benefits I used to tell them about Falun Gong did not sink in. Even when I was jailed, no one sympathized with me. However, my actions have had good results in promoting and validating Falun Dafa.

1. "Stretch torture" is a torture method in which a person is forced to lie down and his or her limbs are tied and pulled hard

2. "Five horses splitting the body" is a torture method in which four people hold and pull the victim's four limbs in great force and the fifth person hold down the victim's head. It is extremely painful and can permanently cripple a person.
