A month ago, an elderly female practitioner from our region went to her hometown to see her relatives. When she was distributing truth-clarification materials and clarifying the truth to others face to face, some misinformed people reported her to the police, who arrested her.
At the police station the officers tried to extort a confession from this practitioner by cruelly beating and torturing her. She strengthened her righteous thoughts and firmly resisted. She refused to tell her name or the source of the truth-clarification materials. Regrettably, the police found her bank deposit book that she carried with her, and they obtained her name and detailed address. About six police officers, headed by the deputy chief of the station in charge of the case, drove to the practitioner's home twice, attempting to ransack her home and find "evidence" for further persecuting her. The practitioner's husband, who didn't practice Falun Gong, justly resisted this unlawful behavior. He firmly refused to let the police come into his home, which defeated their attempts to confiscate anything that might be considered "evidence."
One week ago, the practitioner's husband went to the Political Security Section of the police station to see his wife, but the policemen there refused his request. Two days later, two other relatives went to the police station to ask for her release. They found the deputy head of the police station in charge of the case and requested to see her immediately. The deputy head lied and told them that she had been sent for forced labor re-education and that they would not be allowed to see her until his superiors had filed a report. Her relatives reasonably asked the deputy head, "What illegal thing has she done?" The rattled deputy head said, "She didn't break any constitutional or criminal law." The relatives further asked, "Then why did you arrest such an innocent person?" The deputy head replied firmly, "Because she distributed Falun Gong leaflets." The relatives then asked, "Is it a crime to try to be a good person by practicing Falun Gong?" The deputy head, shamed into anger, could only say, "Do not talk to me about Falun Gong. I only follow the orders from our superiors." But the relatives persisted, "Would you go ahead and kill a person if you were ordered to do so by you superiors?" The deputy head answered mindlessly, "Yes, I would." Then the relatives told him the principle that any good or bad actions will be returned in kind in the future. At these words the deputy head had nothing to say.
Then the practitioner's family members, very peacefully, continued to question the deputy head closely, "Do you have any legal reason to arrest her?" The deputy head responded carelessly, "Yes, we have. But I just cannot show it to you." Arguing strongly on legal grounds, the family members insisted that the deputy head show them the relevant legal provisions immediately. Otherwise the authorities should release the Dafa practitioner immediately. The deputy head then pretended to look for the document in the filing cabinet, but his hands trembled as if had had no control over them, and he didn't find anything after looking for a long time.
To save face, the police deputy head shouted at the practitioner's family members, but the two of them were not scared at all. During the whole process, only the deputy head was on the spot, since all the other officers in the police station had made themselves scarce. In the end, not being able to advance any arguments or to produce any "evidence," the deputy head pushed the two family members out the door. To evade his responsibility, he told them to ask the Political Security Section of the Public Security Bureau of the city and the 610 Office for the Dafa practitioner's release.
