Thank you for contacting me regarding the persecution of Falun Gong practitioners in China. I am pleased to learn your views and appreciate the opportunity to share mine.

As a member of the Congressional Human Rights Caucus, I am concerned about human rights abuses around the globe. I believe governments should respect the basic freedoms of their citizens. For this reason, I am concerned about allegations of human rights abuses against Falun Gong practitioners in China.

As you probably know, two bills have been introduced in the 107^th Congress that would express Congress's disapproval of the Chinese government's persecution of Falun Gong practitioners. Although I was unable to send a letter to President George W. Bush about this issue before his trip to China, I will be sure to keep your views in mind should these bills reach the House floor for a vote.
