(Clearwisdom.net) Central China has been struck by a great heat wave over the past few days. The temperatures in the cities of Wuhan, Hefei, and Nanjing, have reached 37 C (98.6 F) or higher. Many people in Nanjing City have suffered from heatstroke during recent days. Dozens of elderly people died in Hangzhou City, Zhejiang Province, due to complications of heatstroke. The local funeral homes have become very busy with the many deaths.
Local weather experts say that the long-lasting high temperatures in recent days are rare for the last few years. In Nanjing City, one of the four so-called "furnaces" of China, temperatures of 37 C or 38 C (100.4 F) have persisted for four days. In the past ten years, the temperature 38 C it was only recorded once, on July 3, 1994.
The weather experts of Jiangsu Province have said that the high temperatures are expected to last for about ten days, something that hasn't occurred in many years. Currently, every major hospital in Nanjing City has hospitalized many heatstroke patients.
