On June 8, Falun Dafa practitioners in Macao went to the Macao Special Administrative Region (SAR) to deliver an open letter. The letter called for an end to the persecution of Falun Gong practitioners as well as for the unconditional release of all Falun Dafa practitioners both inside and outside China who have been illegally detained, sent to labor camps, or sentenced to prison terms.
Several practitioners had arranged to meet besided the SAR government building at 3:15PM to deliver the open letter. It was raining when we arrived. A group of journalists and plainclothes police were also waiting there. In addition, a busload of uniformed policemen arrived. There were only 11 practitioners and more than 50 policemen -- four or five times more than us. Still all the practitioners were open minded, calm, and peaceful.
At around 3PM, the top officer from one police department came to talk to us. He informed us that the SAR had refused to accept our letter. Then, he asked us to leave peacefully so nothing unpleasant would happen. The practitioners answered, "We delivered an open letter peacefully to express Falun Gong practitioners' requests and wishes; we had hoped to forward our letter to the Chinese government. It is our right to deliver this letter. Since they didn't accept it, we would like to put the letter in front of the door of the SAR." The police officer answered by saying, "The SAR is a forbidden area and no one is allowed to enter. You can only put the letter on the roadside." Master Li says, "No matter what the situation, do not cooperate with the evil's demands, orders, or what it instigates. If everyone does this the environment won't be this way" (from "Dafa Disciples' Righteous Thoughts are Powerful"). We didn't agree and insisted that the letter be delivered. After the office asked the SAR for its opinion, they agreed to let us put the letter beside the wall of their passageway.
At the same time, we handed out copies of our open letter to the reporters and policemen and we told them why we had delivered it. In the letter, we asked that the Chinese government and Jiang Zemin, who had been called a "human rights scoundrel" by Amnesty International, stop persecuting Falun Gong. We also asked them to unconditionally release all Falun Dafa practitioners who had been illegally detained, sent to labor camps, or sentenced to prison, including the detained Falun Gong practitioners from abroad. Lastly, we asked to return justice to the founder of Falun Dafa, Mr. Li Hongzhi. We gave a copy of our open letter to the officer in a positive way and we promoted and validated Dafa.
It is hard to imagine that officials at the SAR didn't even dare to accept our letter. The behavior of the Dafa practitioners was peaceful and rational. What on the earth are they afraid of?
Afterwards, we went to a park on the other side of the street. Even though it was still raining, every practitioner sat on the ground and did the sitting meditation, sending forth righteous thoughts: "The Fa rectifies the cosmos, the Evil is completely eliminated."
