I am over 50 years old this year. I used to have severe sciatic neuralgia [severe pain in the nerve in the hip]. Walking was difficult; I had to rest after every short walk and needed support. I visited many doctors and even had an operation, but still this disease couldn't be cured. Of course, I was not able to work.
It was on February 13, 2001 and my son was helping me take a walk outside. We saw a Falun Dafa banner that had fallen on the ground. On the banner was written, "Falun Dafa Is Good." I told my son, "It's a good banner, don't let people step on it and spoil it. We'd better hang it high on the tree to let more people see it." So my son and I picked up the banner and began throwing it up into the tree. Because of my illness, I was clumsy, we tried many times until finally the banner got caught in the branches and stayed. The banner "Falun Dafa Is Good" could again be seen by passersby. Then, to my surprise, a miracle happened: I suddenly felt the nerves in my body loosen and I was able to walk without my son's support. I walked home by myself. The next day, the pain around my body was gone. Now I can drive a tractor and do labor in the fields. Another man in my town has the same disease I had. We used to go to the doctors together and had the same operation. He is still lying in bed now.
I had never practiced Falun Gong before, but I believe that Falun Gong is miraculous. I went to knock on the door of a Falun Gong practitioner. I want to cultivate, too!

[China] Cadres of XX City Refuse to Attend Anti-Falun Gong Meeting
A few days ago, the authority of XX city held a meeting to award the criminals who actively persecute Falun Dafa practitioners. It was required that all cadres of the Political and Administrative Departments of the government attend the meeting.
When the organizers sent out the notice, they didn't disclose the actual reason for the meeting. Cadres from all units came to the conference hall. When they arrived and found out that it was about Falun Gong again, many people turned around and began to leave. While leaving, some said, "They must be really bored, persecuting Falun Gong everyday. I'd rather go home and take a nap." Since more and more cadres were leaving, it appeared that the meeting could not be held. A leader figured out a way to keep people inside by locking the door of the hall. Some people who were too slow could no longer leave and had to stay until the end of meeting.
After the meeting, one who got locked inside complained to me, "Why didn't you call me as you were leaving? You escaped so fast, but I was stuck inside and had a difficult time."

The second evening after the China Central Television Station broadcast the news about the "self-immolation," my nephew-in-law came home from work and told my niece, "Many of my workmates are saying that the 'self-immolation' drama directed by CCTV failed." My niece asked him why. He said, "Didn't you notice that there were no people on the scene, watching the affair? If it were real, how could there have been no people watching at all? The second thing is how could the TV reporter have been at the scene with a camera pointing at them just at that moment? It must have been staged. The last point is about that so-called 'Wang Jindong'. He looked like he was so badly burned but he could still sit in that pose. Who knows what kind of fire-resistant materials he had under his overcoat?"
[Dalian, Liaoning Province] Police Frenziedly Arrest Practitioners During "Two Conferences" Period
Before the national "Two Conferences" were held, the police of Dalian City were arresting Falun Dafa practitioners frenetically. They knew they had no legitimate charges so they tried to cheat the practitioners. They would first go to the practitioners' home and chat with them to divert their attention. Then they would tell them that their help was needed on some other issues; thereby deceiving them into going to the police station. When the practitioners entered the station, the police would try to force them to curse the Teacher and Falun Dafa. If any practitioner refused, the police would detain him or her for 15 days, under the charge of "disturbing the social public order."
In the detention center, they even kept some old people in their 60's and 70's. Some practitioners were taken away at midnight while sleeping in their homes. Some weren't even interrogated or legally processed before being thrown into a detention center. In one case, the police detained a young mother with her one-year-old baby.
After the police detained the practitioners, they would threaten the practitioners' family members. They would tell a practitioner's family that if the practitioner was not transformed within 15 days, he or she would be sent to "Masanjia". The police would try to force family members to put pressure on practitioners, causing them to be very upset and worried.
When some practitioners asked the police: how is it that they could be charged with "disturbing social public order" while they were at home, the policemen answered shamelessly: "We are afraid that you are going to disturb social public order." Think about this. Do police have the right to detain, without due process, anyone who they simply presume might break a rule? We don't know whether this absurd logic is dreamed up by these individuals or if it's a larger policy. We still remember that, not so long ago, CCTV claimed, "there has not been a single case of anyone being arrested from home because of practicing Falun Gong." Can this be the so-called "govern the country with law, govern the country with virtue" set forth by Jiang Zemin?
A lie is always a lie; it can never be a truth no matter how hard you try to cover it up. From this affair, many family members and friends of practitioners have recognized the ugliness of Jiang Zemin and his accomplices. More practitioners have also awakened from this affair. They have changed from passively bearing the suppression to actively eliminating the wickedness. Some practitioners question and denounce policemen loudly when being taken to the police station and attract many passers-by to watch (the ugly performance of the police).
If Jiang Zemin's slogan of "govern the country with virtue" has ever won the slightest support from the people, these events will have once again broken their hearts and dreams.
[Tongling, Anhui Province] "Govern by Virtue" in Name, Persecute in Reality
During the "Two Conferences" [the Conference of People's Congress and the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference held during early March], Jiang Zemin's slogan "Govern by Virtue" was spread to the people by the media. But has he behaved according to this slogan?
During the "Two Conferences," evil forces ran rampant in Tongling, Anhui Province. Police arrested five people who went to Beijing to appeal and have detained them ever since. It has been almost one month now. Among seven practitioners who wrote the "solemn declaration" [Statement to declare that repentance letters and statements pledging to break away from Falun Gong written before are void-translator], five were arrested. The other two were forced to leave home for over ten days. For one couple, the wife went to Beijing and was arrested, and the husband was forced to leave home, leaving their 6-year-old daughter at home alone needing someone to take care of her. For another couple, both husband and wife were detained. Because the police couldn't catch the two others who escaped, they detained all of the five previous Falun Gong assistants without any reason. What kind of logic is this? Is this the so-called "govern by virtue"? Kind-hearted people do not feel safe in their homes! They are arrested and detained! The police have violated the principle of heaven and definitely will be punished by heaven!
[Hulan, Heilongjiang Province] Police Arrest over 70 Falun Dafa Practitioners Without any Reason
The 610 Office [An office created by the government to deal specifically with issues related to Falun Gong] in Hulan County, Heilongjiang Province, in cooperation with the County Police Department, arrested over 70 Dafa practitioners around Spring Festival [February 24, 2001] and detained them for a long term in order to prevent them from going to Beijing during the Spring Festival and the "Two Conferences." In order to undermine Falun Dafa practitioners' belief, they adopted the most shameless, obscene and indecent means of transformation. The "Implicating and guaranteeing method" adopts a policy of implication. All of the detained practitioners must write "a letter of guarantee" and break away from Falun Gong. They must pledge not to practice, not to appeal and not to clarify the truth. Any practitioner employed must get a guarantee from the director in his work unit using the title and position of the director. For those unemployed, they have to obtain a guarantee from their relatives who have a job. If the practitioner continues to practice or appeal, the guarantor will be dismissed or fired. Under this precondition, they have to pay the so-called bail of 2,000 to 3,000 Yuan RMB [Approximately 4 to 6-month salary of an average urban worker]. Otherwise, the 610 Office and police will not release the practitioners and will detain them for a long term. At this point, most of practitioners have been detained for over three months. It is said that the regular labor education camps are too full of Dafa practitioners to hold any more. In order to continue to detain Dafa practitioners in the long term, the county 610 Office is establishing a transformation class in Xijing Village similar to a labor camp. In the near future they will again launch a campaign to "transform" practitioners one by one, sending many practitioners to this class.
[Mancheng, Hebei Province] Police from Mancheng Police Department and Mancheng Detention Center Persecute Falun Dafa Practitioners
Example One: A male practitioner was detained in the detention center because of going to Beijing to appeal and suffered inhumane torture in the jail. He was frequently switched from one cell to another and beaten by prisoners in each cell. Because Dafa practitioners are compassionate and kind-hearted, he offered his steamed buns to others to eat and his quilt to others to use, which moved the other prisoners. Later he was transferred to another cell and suffered another round of inhuman torture. As a result his beatings, his shoulder bones were exposed. He is still suffering in handcuffs and shackles and is being force-fed.
Example Two: A female practitioner, about 76 years old, is a senior teacher who devoted her life to her profession. For going to Beijing to appeal, she was sent to the detention center. When making an inspection tour, the director of the jail, Jia XX (female), asked her whether she had practiced Falun Gong. She replied, "Yes", then Jia XX slapped her face several times. Later the old lady said, "I did not behave well. I had a little resentment towards the director Jia. I did not have enough compassion. I need to check myself." Now she has been released but fined 5,000 Yuan RMB [Approximately 10-month salary of an average urban worker.]
Example Three: A female practitioner who lives in the countryside and has a very difficult financial situation. She lives in is a "tumbledown" house in need of tremendous repair. Before practicing Dafa, she was not cured from her disease despite her spending about ten-thousand Yuan. After she learned Falun Dafa, she gained a new life. Then, seeing that Dafa was persecuted unprecedentedly in the human world, she went to Beijing to validate Dafa. Later she was arrested, put into the detention center, and tortured inhumanely. She was beaten viciously by the director of the Political Safeguarding Office, Zhao Yuxia (also known as Daxia, she frequently beat Dafa practitioners), and the other directors Li XX, and Du XX. The once - Secretary of the Politics and Law Committee, Yuan Zhenjiang, asked her, "Why did you go to Beijing?" She replied, "To Rectify Dafa." After Yuan left, Zhao XX beat her brutally again and put heavy cuffs and shackles on her. She went on a hunger strike for 9 days before she was released. However, she was fined seven thousand Yuan. She is so poor that her wool-knit pants were knit from sections of threads donated by different people and her waistcoat was picked up from garbage station by her father-in-law and washed. How can she bear such a heavy fine?
The above are just a few examples. Lots of Falun Gong practitioners are still suffering inhuman tortures in the detention center. Vicious police and authorities, you will receive retribution if you keep doing such deeds. When you take the commission from the fines of Falun Gong practitioners, do you feel peace in your heart?
[Shenyang, Liaoning Province] Two Falun Dafa Practitioners Were Caught for Distributing Dafa Materials
On February 28, 2001, Yu Shumin, female, was caught by the Dadong police station, Xiaodongmen branch, Shenyang when posting materials clarifying the truth of Dafa. Her whereabouts are unknown.
Ding Guihua, female, 45 years old, lives on Bawangsi Street, Dadong District. She was arrested around February 20, 2001 by the Huanggu Police Station and detained in Subei labor education center for distributing materials clarifying the truth of Dafa.
[Taiyuan, Shanxi Province] The Government Inveigles Students with Sinister Intentions
A few days ago, every university campus in Taiyuan City was flooded with a poster stating that each university would hold an "anti-Falun Gong" parade on March 20, and encouraging students to go to the designated place to participate. However, nobody showed up that day. After the failure of this plot, the government used forceful administrative means to assign each university a quota. Each university was required to have Falun Gong practitioners fill in the "form of exposing Falun Gong," and "the form of Falun Gong doing harm to family" etc. and asked them to include their photos. If they disobeyed, they would be sent to "studying class," or forced labor camp. True practitioners all refused to fill out the forms. Jiang and his accomplices ordered the universities to complete the task by whatever means necessary. These forms will be sent to the international human rights conference as "living materials."
Jiang and his accomplices confuse black and white, defile public opinion, and even move their vicious performance to the world stage. Such vicious conduct that undermines decency will be punished by heaven.
[Dalian, Liaoning Province] Please Pay Attention to the Suffering of Falun Dafa Practitioner Liu Jiazhen
Dafa practitioner Liu Jiazhen, a femalefrom Dalian City, distributed flyers and clarified the truth of Falun Dafa to company employees. However, an administrator acting as Jiang Zemin's accomplice called the police. Four or five vicious police from Huanghai Street Police Sub-station, Dalian City Special Economic Development Zone went to the company immediately to arrest Liu. Liu Jiazhen refused to be taken away, so a policeman dragged her by the hair from the company's meeting room to the police vehicle. The police used torture to extort a confession to get the source of the Falun Dafa materials. Liu still needed to breast-feed her baby, so her mother carried her nine-month-old baby to Huanghai Street Police Sub-station to request Liu's release and to have her take care of the baby. However, the police refused to release her.
She has been detained for over a month and no further information is available.
[Dalian, Liaoning Province] Please Help Release Falun Dafa Practitioner Wang Lin
Falun Dafa practitioner Wang Lin, male, from Songjia Village, Dalianwan Town, Dalian City, Liaoning Province, was taken away by the police on January 21, 2001 due to somebody's reporting on him. He was released in the evening and his whole face appeared to have been beaten. After midnight, police entered Wang Lin's home by jumping over the yard wall, and took him away without any reason. He has been detained since then (no information is available about his current detention location). He was detained in a special small cell alone and suffered various tortures that were too horrible to describe. It is said that he will be sentenced to education through forced labor. His family members are not allowed to visit him. We hope that all family members of Falun Dafa practitioners pay attention to the persecution suffered by their own relatives and go to the police station to request their release. We urgently appeal to kind-hearted people from all walks of life to pay attention to the personal freedom and safety of Dalian Falun Dafa practitioners.
[Yuzhong, Gansu Province] Brutal Persecution against Falun Gong Practitioners by Police
In March 2000, Falun Dafa practitioners Jin Jilin, Wang Yinghe, and Hu Yuemei (female) from Jinya Town, Yuzhong County, Gansu Province went to Beijing to appeal. Police from Jinya Police Sub-station and Yuzhong County Police Department interrogated, recorded, registered, and fingerprinted the Falun Gong practitioners who were still at home, all the while cursing them. This violated their basic human rights. The police also handcuffed Hu Yuemei's husband, beat him, and fined him. Later, the police forced the practitioners to report and register in the police sub-station every morning, and made them clean restrooms, the yard, and rooms in the station.
In April, the three practitioners who went to appeal were escorted back from Beijing and detained for 15 days in Yuzhong County Police Department before they were released. They were monitored and told to report and register at the police sub-station every day. The police forced them to clean up the trash on the cross streets in Jinya Town. This punishment lasted for several months.
On October 5, 2000, police from the criminal offenders division, Yuzhong County Police Department went to Jinya Town abruptly to ransack and search Falun Gong practitioners' homes. They tore through homes one by one and arrested four people including Jin Jilin. The police detained the four people in Yuzhong County Police Department without reason and sentenced Jin Jilin to 1 year of forced labor (he is currently in No.1 Labor Camp, Gansu Province). One month later, the other three were fined 200 Yuan RMB each (about one month's income of a general town worker) and released. However, they have been monitored since then.
Recently, the No. 1 Labor Camp forced the Falun Dafa practitioners to watch the video of the "Tiananmen Self-immolation Incident" recorded from a TV broadcast. Jin Jilin had a righteous mind and spoke first after the show, "This was pre-arranged and fake. I don't believe that genuine practitioners could do any such thing". Then, other practitioners spoke with righteous minds. They all disbelieved the incident and pointed out many suspicious points. As this corrupt police plot to transform the practitioners failed, the police stepped up the abuse against the practitioners, put Jin Jilin in solitary confinement for three days, and increased the detention term for 80 days more. Our Teacher said, "matter and mind are one thing" (Zhuan Falun, English Version). The practitioners had this insight: "It is the same for an evil thing. We neither recognize it nor act in accordance with it, but instead shatter that layer of the black matter on its surface so as to prevent it from forming into large pieces or chunks. In this way, the black mental support that this evil thing depends on to survive will break down. Instead, the righteous forces will be united, so as to improve and ascend as a whole."
Yuzhong Police department abruptly ransacked the Falun Dafa practitioners' homes, cursed them, and sentenced them, which severely violated their human rights. The local people were scared and angry but did not dare to speak out. The police action had a serious adverse impact because Falun Gong is well known in Jinya Town and people know that Falun Gong practitioners are good people and do good deeds. The people do not understand nor trust the government on the matter of the persecution against Falun Gong. Kind-hearted people know that good will be rewarded with good and evil with evil. Since ancient times, the people in power who lost popular support did not have a good ending. To the people currently committing bad deeds: please think this over.

Changan Police Sub-station, Changan Local Government Office, Dadong District, Shenyang City, Liaoning Province, has arrested nearly 100 Falun Gong practitioners since July 22, 1999. It is said that the director of Dadong district police division is the brother of Yang Jialin, the director of Yuzhong County Police Department.
The Party Secretaries of the police sub-station are Liu XX, and Li XX. The political instructor is Yin XX, and the Director is Mo XX.

[Haerbin, Heilongjiang Province] Police Collect Pictures of Falun Dafa Practitioners for Further Persecution
All local police stations are now collecting pictures of Falun Dafa practitioners under their jurisdiction. One purpose is to turn the pictures in to the Tiananmen Police Station in Beijing so that the police and the plain-clothed police can take a good look at the pictures every day and remember the faces of Falun Dafa practitioners in order to arrest them before they unfurl banners.
Another purpose is to prepare the transformation class. Practitioners who cannot be transformed will be arrested. It has already begun in Bin County, Heilongjiang Province. Falun Dafa practitioners who have refused to write a promise to break away from Falun Dafa have been arrested immediately. Practitioners, please be alert: do not voluntarily let the evil force take you away. Be flexible and quick-witted, and use righteous thinking to suffocate and eliminate the evil force!
[Qingzhou, Shandong Province] Falun Dafa Practitioners from Qingzhou, Shandong Province Arrested
In order to avoid persecution, many Falun Dafa practitioners in Qingzhou, Shandong Province were forced to stay away from home and wander about. Even so, the police spared no effort to persecute these kind people.
On February 10, 2001, Falun Dafa practitioner Jia Honghai was arrested by a policeman from Guashi Police Station of Qingzhou while distributing truth-clarifying materials. Later Jia was sent to Weifang city for transformation by the political security section of the public security bureau. Jia refused to cooperate and was brought back and locked into an iron chair for nearly half a month in the detention center. During that time, Jia went on a hunger strike to protest the unfair treatment and was force-fed. Later Jia was sent to Anqiu City for transformation and his whereabouts are now unknown.
On the morning of February 20, 2001, Falun Dafa practitioners Xu Baohua, Han Meiling (female), Yan Xiling (female), Li Shunqin were arrested by Putong County Police Station while distributing truth-clarifying materials in Putong County and were cruelly beaten. It was heard that the police even fired a pistol at that time.
On February 20, 2001, Falun Dafa practitioners Zhang Yumei (female), Yuan Xi, Ms. Nan (Yuan Xi's mother), Lu Zhenyao, Xian Chunwei, Li Ming, Gong Haiyan, Zhang Wei were arrested by the police from both the political security section of the public security bureau and the Railway station Police station while exchanging experiences. Many belongings in the room were confiscated. At the same time, the place for printing truth-clarifying materials was ransacked; Falun Dafa practitioners Zhang Shouxiang and Jing Guangfeng were arrested and the computer, printer, mimeograph, and plate-making machine were all confiscated.
In the police branch of the Railway station, Gong Haiyan refused to cooperate with the police. The policeman, Zhu Guangchao, used a police baton to beat Gong's shanks, knees, and thighs. Policeman Song Guolin viciously slapped Gong's face. Another policeman with nickname Huhu Tom broke Gong Haiyan's nose and beat Gong with a police baton and his fists. Not only this, he also used the sole of a shoe to slap practitioner Zhang Shouxiang's face and used the police baton to viciously beat his legs and back.
Now, Li Ming has been sent to Jinan City for forced labor, Xian Chunwei has been sent to Changle City for forced labor, Zhang Wei was detained on criminal charges for one month, Zhang Shouxiang was detained for half a month, and Zhang Yumei and Xu Baohua were sent back to their work units for detention. The situations of other practitioners are not known.
