[Shijiazhuang, Hebei Province] A Failed Attempt to Frame Falun Dafa
An employee of the Provincial Agricultural Research Institute lives on the east section of Yuhua Road. He and several of his brothers take turns looking after their elderly mother. He has treated his mother with great respect. However, the day after his mother's arrival at Shijiazhuang, she committed suicide by hanging herself in the basement of her son's home; her motive is unknown. Yudong police sub-station sent people to ask, "Does she practice Falun Gong?" The answer was, "No." It was then asked, "Is she in contact with Falun Gong?" The answer was, "She had no relationship whatsoever with Falun Gong." Fortunately, in this case, people had righteous minds, and thus the attempt to frame Falun Dafa failed. People couldn't help asking what was the ill intention in trying to associate the suicide case of an elderly person with Falun Dafa?
[Northern China] 12-Year-Old Child Practitioner Refuses to Sign His Name--Instead He Promotes Falun Dafa to the Principal for 40 Minutes
A 12-year-old practitioner in a city in northern China refused to sign his name on banners defaming Falun Dafa. The student who was the head of the class forced him to sign. The 12-year-old practitioner then picked up a pen and wrote on the banner "Falun Dafa is good." Upon learning this, the teacher in charge of the class took him to the principal's office, where the principal then asked him why he refused to sign.
The little practitioner said, "Doing this is like signing one's name on the door of hell, and I can't do it." The little practitioner began promoting Dafa to all the people in the room. He explained how his mother benefited from practicing Falun Dafa, and expanded onto how he became a student who excels both by academic and moral standards. In the 40 or so minutes, the principal and teachers listened attentively.
"Our Teacher is Buddha. You are all so pious toward fake Buddhas; yet to a true Buddha, you scold him, defame him. Think about it, if I signed my name, wouldn't I have signed up my name in hell?"
"Your-your teacher is Buddha?" After hearing the little practitioner's speech, the principal didn't dare call Teacher by name.
"Our Teacher is himself Buddha."
"Then why did he go away to the United States?"
"He is right here with us. Don't you see how police beat Dafa practitioners, yet some of the practitioners don't feel the pain? That's because our Teacher is enduring it all!" The young practitioner then told them the stories of how he regularly communicates with Teacher's Fashen (Law Body).
In the end, the principal told the little practitioner, "Only say these words to us, don't mention them to anyone else. Now you can go back!"
The banner had to be withdrawn from submission to higher authorities as the little practitioner had written "Falun Dafa is good" on it.
[China] "Li Zhen, We Are on Your Side"
Li Zhen (pseudonym), a 12-year-old fifth-grader, was called into the office of the teacher who is in charge of her class.
Question: "Are you still practicing Falun Gong?"
Answer: "Sure, I feel great about Falun Dafa, and have been practicing all along."
Question: "Have you watched TV? There've been so many self-immolation incidents."
Answer: "Yes, I have seen them. They are all fabricated and there are many suspicious points. Didn't you notice them as well?"
The teacher in charge of this class remained silent for a while, and then said, "You've indulged in Falun Gong at this young age, be sure that you don't burn yourself."
"Please put your mind to rest. I won't. I abide by my Master's teaching, and he doesn't allow the killing of lives which includes committing suicide. It is sinful to commit suicide. You would know it if you read the books."
The teacher in charge of the class didn't have anything else to say, and let her go back to the classroom. When she returned, two classmates suddenly stood up and announced loudly, "Li Zhen, we are on your side!"
[Fuyang City, Anhui Province] Anhui Practitioners Distribute Truth Clarifying Materials and Go to Beijing to Appeal Afterwards
During the night of March 2, 2001, Dafa practitioners in Linquan County, Fuyang City, Anhui Province delivered thousands of truth clarifying materials to numerous streets, work units, and homes. The next day, 9 practitioners went to Beijing to appeal. On Jinshui Bridge in Tiananmen Square, they unfurled a banner reading: "Falun Dafa is good." 7 practitioners were arrested right on spot and sent back to Fuyang city for detainment; the other 2 are missing.
After this event, higher authorities criticized Fuyang City and Linquan County in widely distributed documents. Linquan County immediately ordered a curfew across the county and enforced 24-hour monitors of Falun Gong practitioners who were at home. If these practitioners stepped out of the door, they would be interrogated. Their personal freedom was restricted. On long distance buses, police officers yelled out indecent words against the founder of Falun Gong, and demanded the passengers to do the same. Whoever refused would be regarded as suspicious. When passengers asked why this was to be done, the police said, "It is the order from higher up." The detention center of this county has illegally held over 50 Dafa practitioners for extended periods of time. Some have been locked up for over 15 months.
[A Northwest City] Falun Dafa Practitioners Distribute Truth Clarifying Materials in Large Quantities
Recently, Falun Dafa practitioners in a northwest city mailed different relevant truth-clarifying materials to universities, colleges and institutes, institutions, companies and police stations in Xian City while under the close monitor of police. When compiling these materials, the practitioners did their best to carefully select the content, ensuring that it was comprehensive. The goal was to let people know the panoramic truth of Falun Dafa from different angles and the awards overseas countries have conferred to Falun Dafa. The approximately ten thousand copies of Falun Dafa materials that they sent out to everyday people exposed the wickedness and clarified the truth about the self-immolation incident. By doing this, the practitioners of Xian City took steps to stop the evil, awaken the righteous thought and conscience of everyday people, and help the Teacher in rectifying the Fa.
[A Northern City] Story about Stopping the Evil Deeds
In a northern city, the government prepared to convene for a two day long meeting to "expose and criticize" Falun Gong. After hearing this news, the practitioners hung big and small banners displaying "Falun Dafa is good," "Falun Dafa suffered extraordinary injustice," etc., all around the club where the meeting was to be held. The following morning, they also spray painted slogans saying "Falun Dafa is good" and "Truth, Compassion, Tolerance" all around the club and pasted the Teacher's poems "To Be Human," "Clear Distinction," and others all over the place. In the afternoon, some practitioners saw that the painted "Falun Dafa is good" signs on the wall beside the front gate of the club were still dazzling and eye-catching. Because the meeting for "exposing and criticizing" was scheduled for one or two o'clock in the afternoon, the club staff had to bring out a blackboard to cover the painted "Falun Dafa is good" sign. However, the blackboard could only obstruct half of the painting, and the Falun Dafa practitioners on the spot could not help but smile.
Two days prior, there was another story: several banners carrying the words "Falun Dafa is good" were hung outside the corridors of a residential building, one of them was hung from the fifth floor. The next day, the residents' committee and the local police station tried to reach the banner with a very long pole, yet they were unsuccessful. The more effort they put into it, the more people came to watch the scene. These people's thoughts seemed to have been suppressed, as no one was able to realize that they could go upstairs to the fifth floor and take the banner off.
[Shijiazhuang City, Hebei Province] Falun Gong "Transforming and Studying Class" Ends Up in Disgrace
Since January 20, 2001, Shijiazhuang Penghou Street Office forcibly put Falun Dafa practitioners into "transforming and studying classes." After having exhausted all means of threatening, cheating, and extorting in vain, finally, on March 15, the office started unconditionally releasing Falun Dafa practitioners. Nevertheless, even at the end, they did not forget to extort money from the practitioners' family members, asking them to pay as much as 1200 to 1900 Yuan (1 USD = 8.5 Yuan, average monthly salary of urban residents is 60 USD) for the expense of the guesthouse lodgings and meals. The despicable and disgusting images of their pursuing after the practitioners' family members, begging and bargaining back and forth made the family members even more clearly realize their ugly side. Some family members said in disgust: "It's just like being hijacked by scoundrels."
[Chengdu City, Sichuan Province] Falun Dafa Practitioners Are Injected With Large Doses of Unknown Medicine At a Drug Recovery Center
Several fellow practitioners from Chengdu went to Beijing to appeal on New Year's Day of 2001 (among them, there were several 65 to 70-year-old people). On their way to Beijing, because they did not cooperate with the evil who requested them to curse Dafa, they were forcibly body-searched and their belongings were plundered. Because they refused to tell their names, they were later sent back to a drug recovery center in Chengdu; they were forcibly injected in their hands with large doses of unknown medicine. After the injection, one practitioner felt groggy, his body was suddenly hot and suddenly cold, he coughed ceaselessly day and night for about ten days, could not go to sleep, and had difficulty speaking. It greatly damaged the practitioners' physical and mental state.
Afterwards, the local public security department feared that this matter would become known. Hence they dispatched specially assigned personnel to watch over the practitioners at the main gates of their houses, isolating them from the outside world during the Spring Festival.
[Chongqing City] Falun Dafa Practitioners Are Atrociously Persecuted
Dafa practitioners Du Hanwen (transferred battalion level cadre) and Wang Rong (former cadre of police sub-bureau of Chongqing Iron and Steel Company) were imprisoned at Chongqing Second Prison. They withstood huge tribulations, and were tortured to such an extent that they had only a thin layer of skin remaining.
Dafa practitioners Liu Chunshu, Liao Xiqiong, and others, were imprisoned at the Jiangbei female jail of Chongqing labor camp. They were frequently beaten and abused, and their family members were not allowed to visit them.
Dafa practitioner Liang Guangwei, female, 36 years old, was imprisoned at Chongqing Jiangjin watch house for clarifying the truth. The evil police officer extorted evidence by torturing her. They hung Liang Guangwei up, causing her whole body to swell up, put handcuffs and foot shackles on her, and inhumanly tortured her.
[Jingyan County, Sichuan Province] Eight Falun Dafa Practitioners Are Illegally Tried In Public
On February 21, 2001 (the Spring Festival eve), the police station of Jingyan County, Sichuan Province publicly tried eight Dafa practitioners in the downtown area of Jingyan County. The eight Dafa practitioners were respectively sentenced to 1 ~ 2 years of labor reeducation. The reason was that they "legally went to the capital" to appeal or sent out Dafa truth-clarifying materials. Among them, the youngest was a female practitioner only 21 years old.
Recently it has been conveyed to party members in the interior of the Chengdu government departments: There should be no Falun Gong practitioners in the schools, the work units, and the families.
[Baoding City, Hebei Province] Wusi Road Local Police Station at Baoding Normal Junior College Again Persecutes Falun Dafa Practitioners During the "Two Sessions"
Falun Dafa practitioner Niu Dengfeng was arrested at his home. He lived in a rented building. Another Falun Dafa practitioner who was under surveillance came to his dwelling and was tracked on the way. They were thus both arrested. We would like to remind all the Falun Dafa practitioners in the open: please watch out for being followed when going to fellow practitioners' rented dwellings.
Wusi road local police station at Baoding Normal Junior College persecuted Falun Dafa practitioners once more during the "Two Conferences." On March 5, the normal junior college teachers and administration staff Wang Jinbo, Rui Kungai, Tian Fuyong were arrested at their homes and detained at the detention center. Shao Guisheng refused to open the door and managed to leave home after the police evacuated; he is presently destitute and homeless. Wang Jinbo and Rui Kungai went on hunger strikes to protest; Rui Kungai is presently being rescued in the ?' hospital. On March 8, the family member of regular junior college teacher and administration staff Liu Guiting (Dafa practitioner) was arrested by Wusi road local police station in the neighborhood of 519. On March 12, Baoding veteran cadre bureau staff Li Jinhu and his wife Li Chunzhi were surrounded at their home by Wusi road local police who planned to arrest them. Li and his spouse resisted the vicious assault together by refusing to open the door; they have already been three days and their current situation is unknown (Note: Latest development - they were just released back home after this report was written.)
[Dongguang County, Hebei Province] Authority Illegally Arrests Falun Dafa Practitioners
From February 24, 2001, until now, the Police Bureau of Dongguang County has arrested 9 Falun Dafa practitioners. (One of the practitioners successfully escaped while wearing handcuffs.)
Two practitioners were tricked into coming to the police station from their work units. After arriving, the police detained them and then searched their residential houses and offices. Patrolling police arrested two other practitioners while they were distributing truth-clarifying materials. Another two practitioners were taken away from their houses. The police interrogated and tortured the practitioners because they kept their righteous minds and wouldn't bow to the evil forces.
The Vice Political Supervisor of Police Bureau, Wang Xijie, led the physical punishment against the practitioners. They placed the practitioners in the cold winter wind during the night; hanged up the practitioners and beat them, locked the practitioners to large poles all day long, and electrically shocked the practitioners. A female practitioner who was arrested while distributing truth-clarifying materials was the most severely tortured. A guard from the Detention Center said that she had many injuries.
Dongguang Detention Center also detained 9 practitioners who had been to Beijing to appeal last year (3 male, 6 female). According to insiders, the police are planning to arrest three more practitioners and will take actions against other practitioners after the "Two Conferences" (of the National People's Congress and the National People's Political Consultative Conference-- by translator).

The authorities of Dongguang County have sent three practitioners to labor camps since July 20, 1999. One was in Shijiazhuang Forced Labor Re-Education Center (currently bailed out for health reasons). Two practitioners were sent to a labor camp in Tangshan City.
[Beijing] Recent News from Beijing
Li Li is a practitioner in the Shijingshan district of Beijing. After being detained for several months, Li Li was bailed out by her son who is a high school student in Beijing No.9 High School. Li Li has recently left home and no one knows her whereabouts. The police say that they saw an article written by Li Li on the Internet so they often go to No. 9 High School to threaten and coerce her son. If he doesn't tell them where she is, they say that he will be made to take the responsibility.
An employee of the Accounting Department in the Capital Steel Plant Wu Hua was arrested for practicing Falun Gong at the beginning of February 2001. Recently, Wu Hua was sentenced to one-year re-education through forced labor. In China, the authorities can arrest and put practitioners into labor camps without any legal procedures or public trials; practitioners are not allowed to hire lawyers or appeal. It is like a country without law. The authorities treats the people like slaves (who can be beaten or killed at any time without reason). This is the law of the Chinese regime; this is the so-called "best period in terms of human rights."
[Dongguang County, Hebei Province] Hospital Chief Persecutes Falun Dafa Practitioners to Gain Political Leverage
Zhao Jiantao is the chief of Dongguang County Chinese Traditional Medical Hospital. Zhao used to work in Dongguang County People's Hospital, but he was dismissed for having improper relationships with other women. Later, he was employed by the Chinese Traditional Medical Hospital as a cashier. He worked hard to build personal relationships with the leaders and was promoted to chief of the hospital. After July 20, 1999 (the date the Chinese Government began to crack down Falun Gong-- by translator), he organized many meetings to criticize Falun Gong and claimed to "follow the instructions from the Party." Three practitioners in the hospital had explained the truth to him many times but he refused to accept the facts and kept on with his wicked persecution. In October 1999, one female practitioner exercised her legal right to appeal. Zhao was afraid of criticism from higher leaders, so he tried hard to shred off his responsibility and pushed for a three-year labor camp charge for the practitioner. In December 2000, two practitioners of the Chinese Medical Hospital were fined three months salary for practicing Falun Gong and were cursed by the chief of the hospital. The male practitioner was beaten as well. After the Chinese New Year's Day in 2001, the female practitioner was sent to the police station because she refused to comply with the hospital's illegal regulations that deprived her of her freedom. She is still in the detention center. They also threatened the male practitioner, saying he would be dismissed from his position. During the persecution, the director of the administration office, Cao Shaohua, also engaged himself actively. He collected materials that were used against practitioners and informed higher athorities to gain political favor.
The following is a timetable of how one practitioner has been persecuted:
In July 1999, after coming back from appealing in Beijing, the practitioner was detained for 15 days. The police forced the practitioner to pay 2,000 Yuan RMB (about 4 months of income of an average worker in China) without giving him a receipt. The work unit put the practitioner in an idle position for one month by paying him only enough for minimum living expenses (normally 150 to 200 Yuan--by translator).
In October 1999, the medical bureau forced the practitioner to pay a 1000-Yuan bail, put the practitioner under 24-hour surveillance (he had to sleep and eat in a hospital) for one month, and fined him three months salary.
In July 2000, the practitioner was placed under 24-hour surveillance for ten days (he had to sleep and eat in a hospital and was monitored by guards).
[China] A Talk Between Two Army Soldiers
Soldier A: "There was another 'self-immolation' incident on Wanshou Road. It is said to be a Falun Gong practitioner."
Soldier B: "Falun Gong teaches people to be good and kind. Everyone knows that it improves health. [The Central Government] says that their Teacher told them to burn themselves. It is pure nonsense and obviously tries to put the blame on Falun Gong."
Soldier A: "Then why did he set himself on fire?"
Soldier B: "Why don't you burn yourself? You can always hire someone to do anything if you pay enough money. Someone must be willing to immolate himself. Old Jiang must be very bored, so he persecutes Falun Gong practitioners."
