[Minghui Net] On the evening of March 10, 2001, at Han Gong Restaurant in Virginia, a reception was being held to welcome the new Chinese ambassador, Yan Jiechi. In order to show his loyalty to Jiang Zemin, the new ambassador spoke harshly against Falun Dafa. Five Falun Dafa practitioners who were present immediately pointed out some inaccuracies in his speech, which exasperated him.
The reception was open to the public, and anyone could buy a ticket. Therefore, some Falun Dafa practitioners went to the feast with good intentions. As was their expectation, the new ambassador libeled Falun Dafa, declaring: that they would "firmly attack [slanderous words omitted] Falun Gong". In America, Falun Dafa is a legally registered self-cultivation organization. The verbal attack and overreaction of the new ambassador really do not fit his role as the representative of China.
Facing the distortions and slanders of the ambassador, five Falun Dafa practitioners stood up and asked him why Falun Gong is evil. They in turn told the truth about Falun Gong to the assembled guests. The furious ambassador, along with several vicious men, surrounded them, pushing and cursing them. Several brawny men surrounded a sixty-year-old female practitioner. They manhandled her, pulling, pushing, and shoving her back and forth. A man, around age 40, grabbed her by the waist with his hands from behind and dragged her out of the hall. As a result of the violence, chairs were knocked over and scattered all over the floor. Afterwards, this old woman was examined by a doctor. She had bruises around her neck, back and shoulders.
Falun Dafa practitioners who were peacefully appealing outside Han Gong Restaurant immediately called the police after they heard the news. Outside the restaurant, local practitioners (after they got a permit from the police) displayed bulletin boards and banners that read: "Suppressing Falun Gong is owing a blood debt. Jiang Zemin can't escape the punishment of history." Also, they distributed Falun Gong flyers to the guests. All Chinese guests and passersby saw the eye-catching banners. Jiang Zemin has intensified his persecution of Falun Gong in China and abroad. Outside of China, even in the United States, Chinese spies employ devious and illegal means such as telephone tapping, surveillance, and threats. The new ambassador is especially eager to show his loyalty and obedience to Jiang Zemin in order to keep his post. He ignores the laws of the United States and diplomatic standards, and publicly attacks Falun Gong in America.
Several days before this incident, these spies tapped and recorded a Falun Dafa practitioner's cellular phone conversation. In order to intimidate him, they did this in the middle of the night! Now they are pursuing practitioners, American citizens no less, who peacefully speak the truth about Falun Gong. From these examples of "Chinese-style human rights" given by the new ambassador, more and more people have started to see the "Chinese-style" interference with other countries' affairs.
We again warn Jiang Zemin and his followers: persecution will cause the people to lose confidence in the government. Force can't change the faith of Falun Dafa practitioners. History will judge most objectively people's hearts, be they good or evil.
