This is a mountain of cultivation. Determined cultivators would come to this mountain, build for themselves a cave-like simple shelter, and live a simple life dedicated to cultivation. Before coming here, fellow practitioners had told us how the government has been registering these dwellings, and how many cultivators would rather move to the far side of the mountains.
There is a temple at the foot of the hills. It was already afternoon when we arrived, so we decided to stay overnight in the temple and begin our upward journey the next day. Early in the morning of the second day, accompanied by a group of Tibetan practitioners, we started climbing the mountain along a dirt path covered with ice.
About half way up the mountain we started seeing these cultivation 'caves' built by monks and nuns. A Tibetan lady practitioner was accompanying us, since the majority of people in Tibet do not speak/understand Chinese. Watching our Tibetan friend hongfa, looking into the eyes of these cultivators, I could feel their purity and their commitment to cultivation, and I could see very clearly how the great compassion of our Master has led us here. In the vast highlands of Tibet, there are many people who have the wish and the will to cultivate, yet they did not know the current happenings in the universe, nor did they know about the spread of Dafa in this world, ...
When we visited dwellings and shelters along the way, most people accepted "Lunyu" from us (the introduction/summary script of Zhuan Falun Falun Dafa's main text by Master Li). A young nun led us to her mud hut, a few other nuns were sitting inside. Our companion, the Tibetan lady, introduced Dafa to them and showed them Master Li's picture. They respectfully held Master's picture over their heads, asking: "Will we be able to see the Master?" I was so deeply touched. On the way back, we met and introduced Dafa to an old nun. She immediately accepted a Tibetan version of Zhuan Falun (only the first two chapters have been translated). She told us that she realized her 'Gong' (cultivation energy) hasn't been growing for at least the last 7 years, and that she will treasure the scripture (Zhuan Falun) we gave her - it is the Buddha's Fa.
We saw a lama (monk) sitting under the sun while we were waiting for transportation when we got down. Our Tibetan friend introduced Dafa to him. We found that he is a lay (cultivates at home solitarily) lama, had heard of Falun Gong from friends a few years ago, but since he cannot read Chinese, he's been waiting for the Tibetan translation all this time. He told us that in his home town (in a very remote area of Tibet), there are quite a few Tibetan Falun Gong practitioners, and though under pressure now, they all persist in their practice. When we suggested that we would like to go to this town to distribute new scriptures from the Teacher, he offered to help, for it is a small town under strict surveillance so if we had gone we would have attracted attention and could have put ourselves in danger. That was so kind of him!
When we returned to the Lhasa, this lama located us and gladly accepted the Tibetan translation of Zhuan Falun (first 2 chapters), the new scriptures, and articles from ClearWisdom for fellow practitioners in his home town. He told us that he felt we are very close friends. Since he stays both at home and in Lhasa for different periods of time, he said he could help with Dafa communication, and that he knew this Fa is so good, otherwise he would not have wanted to take such great risks upon himself.
During our stay in Tibet, most of our time was spent introducing Dafa to the temples. In Lhasa, Shannan, and Zedang, we were all able to find predestined individuals and lamas. Some have been waiting long for the Tibetan translation of Falun Gong materials; some told us that what we were doing - bringing Fa to people - is a deed of immense virtue. Some attained Dafa through miraculous arrangements. There was a temple, in a village of nuns, in the high mountains, only the elderly chief of that village understood Chinese. He accepted the Tibetan Zhuan Falun (first 2 chapters), and said that he will finish reading it. We suggested that he could let the others (nuns) read it also.
We also tried sending out some letters in the post and distributed some truth clarification materials in telephone booths. Two practitioners got arrested while distributing Dafa information. We learned later on that nearing the end of our trip, the Chinese authorities had started a mobile "picture show" (slandering Falun Gong) aimed at covering the entire district, and that every work unit was required to attend. The evil is extending its hands into Tibet and reaching towards the innocent Tibetan people.
From a practical point of view, due to the language barrier and other environmental factors, we are in great need of many more local Tibetan practitioners and others who are capable to help in preparing Dafa materials and in translation. Let's all step forward to spread the Fa, to safeguard the Fa, and tell the truth to the world.
