Since October 1999, detained Falun Gong practitioners have been brutally tortured in Prisons No. 1 and 2 in Macheng city, Hubei province. In stone solid faith, the practitioners set out to safeguard their right to practice and to validate the Great Law of the cosmos, using their benevolence and compassion, as well as their life and blood. To date, three practitioners have died of police brutality in this area.
Falun Gong practitioners went on a hunger strike to gain the right to practice Falun Gong while in prison. Despite the known hazards, the police force-fed practitioners every four or five days, an activity which endangered the practitioner's lives. Every time it would take six to seven police officers to feed one practitioner: two to step on his hands, two on his feet, one to pry open his mouth using pliers, one to administer the food, and one to stomp on the victim's stomach. Once his mouth was forced open, food was immediately poured into it. Sometimes it was poured on his face, splashing into his eyes, ears, nostrils, and hair. Some practitioners choked until they coughed up blood, some had their teeth broken, and some suffered severe cuts to their lips and mouths. In addition to putting a lot of salt in the rice porridge, the police also added alcohol and detergent. Nearly every practitioner in the prison received such forced feeding. One person endured this torture for 80 days.
On the third day of the Chinese Lunar New Year, 2000, it snowed heavily, and the temperature went down to 28 F. Two female practitioners were stripped to their underwear and forced to sit outdoors in basins of ice water. The police stood watch for two hours until they were driven inside by the cold.
In this hellish environment, beating was very common. For example, when a male practitioner fainted during a beating, a calloused officer kicked him, and accused him of pretending to be dead. When there was no response, the officer dragged the victim out for treatment. When practitioner Yumei (alias) was caught doing the exercises in her cell, a guard whipped her head at least twenty times until her blood gushed down her face. He only stopped because he was too tired to continue. In such an environment practitioners fight demons with their great benevolence and forbearance, in the hope of awakening what remains of their consciences.
The Gulou police station in Macheng City is also a barbarous place. Police sprayed two practitioners with a fire hose. The two passed out under the high-pressure water assault. They were dragged inside and assaulted again after they revived. The most inhumane treatment occurred at the Baiguo police station. Officers tied practitioners to a motorcycle and dragged them behind it. These demons, beneath their human skins, are no different from beasts.
With orders from Jiang Zemin declaring that no method is improper when dealing with Falun Gong, the authorities in Macheng City explicitly extorted money and personal property from the practitioners and their families. Each practitioner is charged 30 Yuan a day while in detention. After they have served a detention, their families must pay from 3,000 to 12,000 Yuan (Chinese dollars, the monthly salary of an averaged worker in cities of China is about 500 yuan) before the practitioners can be released. When the family is unable to pay the fine, the police confiscate household property, such as refrigerators and television sets, to pay the debt. Otherwise, the practitioner won't be released. In addition, family members are charged 50 to 100 Yuan each time they visit. The police have said, "These charges are meant to make you go broke."
In one incident, while a husband and wife (practitioners) were not at home, the deputy commander of Songfu police station told their son to drive the family car to the police station. He illegally seized the car and kept it for himself. Isn't this robbery?
Currently, there are 60 to 70 practitioners in Prisons No.1 and 2 in Macheng City. We don't know how many practitioners are being held in Gulou and Baiguo police stations. We appeal to those who have compassion to please help the people being tortured for nothing more than their belief in Falun Dafa.
On the other hand, those conducting these heinous crimes are digging tombs for themselves. According to reliable sources, the officer who stomps on the stomachs of practitioners has received retribution for his behavior. For two weeks, he was unable to breath normally. The head of Prison No.1 is an extremely ferocious person and his son received two stab wounds from an unknown assailant. Another brutal police officer, Wu Gang, was stabbed seven times during a fight. A policeman named Xu at prison No.2 broke his hand.
We here solemnly speak to the evil beasts: the justice of heaven is a vast and well-woven net. Good deeds are rewarded with good, and bad deeds will receive equal retribution. They will pay for what they have done.
