Qin Wei, a young man in his 30s, is an excellent teacher from Bayi Middle School in Beijing. Honest and always willing to help others, he is well respected by his students and colleagues. Moreover, Qin Wei is a veteran Falun Dafa disciple.
He was detained four times for exercising his legal citizen's rights [to speak to the government]. He has been imprisoned in Tuanhe Labor Camp for more than half a year now, while his wife, child and elders are left at home.
On November 25, 1999, Jiang Zemin told foreign journalists that Falun Gong is "xx" (derogatory words omitted by editor). That night, Qin Wei went to the Great Hall of the People to appeal that Jiang Zemin has abused his power and broken the Constitution. Qin Wei was detained in Haidian Detention Center for more than 30 days.
During [last year's] spring festival, Qin Wei went to Tiananmen Square to appeal peacefully, and he was again detained in Haidian Detention Center for more than 30 days.
On April 2, 2000, Beijing Military Museum was holding a show wrongfully defaming Falun Dafa. Qin Wei and another Ph.D. student from the Chinese Academy of Science went to clarify the facts and tell the truth, thus validating Dafa. Qin Wei was illegally detained as a criminal for more than a month.
In June 2000, the evil police again put Qin Wei in criminal detention. Qin Wei has never gained freedom since then. In August, he was transferred to Tuanhe Labor Camp. There, he endured extensive spiritual and physical suffering. From the facts revealed by witnesses, Qin Wei, Zhao Ming, and other practitioners' mistreatment in Tuanhe Labor Camp can't be explained in words.
On behalf of all Falun Dafa practitioners and their relatives, and the students of Bayi Middle School who wish to see their teacher return, we hereby call upon the Chinese government to release Qin Wei and all other Falun Dafa practitioners.
