At the turn of the millennium, practitioners took advantage of the long holiday season to gather signatures on petition forms asking people to "Help Stop Jiang Zemin's persecution of Falun Gong", as well as to distribute leaflets revealing the evil crimes. To call for people's support and participation to help stop Jiang Zemin's brutal crackdown, practitioners went to the streets to "find people".
Let the voices of kindhearted people be heard During the process of collecting signatures, lots of people, when they heard this was an appeal to stop Jiang Zemin's persecution of Falun Gong, said immediately: " I'll sign." and thanked us. Some said: "How can I refuse to sign for such an appeal? It is my duty as a good person!" All of them had a relatively good understanding of Falun Gong. They admired Falun Gong and many wanted to learn the practice. They took our introductory materials, and we directed them to a local practice site. We felt happy for them. They have chosen for themselves a very bright future
Effectively Spreading the truth about Dafa There are a large number of people who do not have an understanding of Falun Gong. Most of what they know is hearsay. Even with a misunderstanding of Falun Gong, they still supported the Chinese practitioner's right to Free Belief, and signed our petition on that basis. After signing the forms, some of them were eager for more materials and the web address of Falun Gong. Compared to simply distributing materials, collecting signatures seems to get more attention from kind people, and helps us to promote Fa in depth. It is very effective.
Collecting signatures is not the only purpose When collecting signatures, some people said: "I can not sign it right now. Could you give me some materials to read, then I will see whether I can sign it." Some people said: "I support you but I will never sign in public." Some people even said that they would rather call their congressman or offer an electronic signature through web. No matter which way they prefer, all are chances for us to tell the truth and reveal the evil. We don't pursue the collection of signatures. We focus on validating and promoting the Fa.
Encourage each other Often, there were people who came to encourage us, "You're doing it right", "Keep going", "Keep up the good work" etc. But some people took a pessimistic view of China's human rights record and felt that nothing could be done to change it. When facing such a situation, we always encouraged them: " We cannot give up hope. If we are persistent, we will succeed eventually. This is the least we can do. " These people finally changed their minds and signed happily. The righteous has been strengthened in peoples' hearts, and good has defeated evil.
The lost lives A few people attacked Dafa very rudely. Some people felt "I don't care about it. It's not any of my business." On the surface, they were indifferent toward the persecution of Dafa, but actually, who knows where their lives will be positioned in the future? We felt concerned and sorry for them. Collecting signatures also requires tact. We must avoid being too aggressive. We also need to apply for permission before we do it. Theaters and shopping centers have a large amount people and they are good places to collect signatures. No matter what jobs they have in society, when asked for signatures, people are usually very supportive and willing to read Dafa materials. It is a good way to introduce the truth of Dafa to people.
