On September 7, 2000, practitioners from around the world continued their large-scale peaceful appeal and practice activities in the Dag Hammarskjold Plaza opposite the U.N. Building. They called upon leaders from all countries attending the Millennium Summit and people from all over the world to show their concern and support to the practitioners in China who are being brutally persecuted, and urge the Chinese government to stop the violent and inhumane persecution of Falun Dafa practitioners immediately and solve the crisis in China in a peaceful way.
The magnificent and compassionate spectacle of Falun Gong practitioners practice attracted not only many journalists and media photographers, but also many pedestrians as well; they stopped to watch and take pictures, and asked for information. Some westerners shook their heads in disbelief after seeing the pictures and the information about the persecution of Falun Gong practitioners in Mainland China. They could not understand why the Chinese government would brutally suppress such a peaceful cultivation practice group.
The appeal and practice activities made a strong impression on the policemen on duty. Nearly two thousand practitioners participated in the activities yesterday. The event was so harmonious and peaceful that no damage at all was made to the public facilities. They even collected all the debris and garbage on the ground before they left. One policeman said to one of the practitioners: "You are the best, Falun Gong is the best!" Although our permit stated that we were only allowed to play the music between 1 PM and 3 PM, the policemen on duty in the morning made an exception to allow us play the music on our arrival. In order not to affect others, the practitioner in charge of playing the music lowered the volume. Later, the policeman on his own initiative said to the practitioner: "You can raise the volume of the music, it will not matter. "
The activities went smoothly all day. At about 4 PM, the practitioners concluded their activities in front of the United Nations Building and headed to the New York Metropolitan Museum to continue the peaceful appeal.
