In October of 1999, Guangzhou practitioner Zhuang Jian and Guizhou practitioner Chen Tuoyu, were arrested during an experience-sharing meeting at the home of a practitioner in Sichuan Province. Since then, they have been detained in the Guanghan Detention Center of Sichuan Province. It has been over 8 months. The trials against them have been repeatedly delayed because of a lack of evidences. According to news sources, the trial against Zhuang Jian opened today. His family members attended the trial.

In the Heizuizi Women Detention Center of Changchun, some practitioners who had written the pledge to never practice Falun Gong withdrew their pledges and became determined on Falun Gong again after reading the article "Towards Consummation" by Teacher Li.
[Beijing] Police Brutality at the Tiananmen Square Police Station
On July 2, temperature was at about 40Celsius degree in Beijing. Over 300 practitioners were detained at the Tiananmen Police Station. Most of them refused to reveal their names and addresses. The plainclothes agents from all district Offices in Beijing had gone to the Police Station to pick out practitioners from their district. When the police try to drag three recognized practitioners out, they failed because other practitioners wouldn't allow it. This caused further agitation and rage to the police. Thus at 5pm, in retaliation, the police organized a dozen brutes to break apart the practitioners with beating clubs targeting all detainees, regardless of age.
The practitioner abided by "Truthfulness, Benevolence and forbearance" till the end. Even when a young woman hit the ground and her blouse was torn; and till the aged people were out of breath from the beating and cramming, till shoes were lost and chaos settled in. Finally the practitioners were separated after half an hour of beating... Is this what the people's police do for the benefit of the people?

A mother and her son met a couple from Hong Kong at Tiananmen Square in Bejing and when she chatted to them about Falun Dafa. Some plainclothes came over and pushed them onto the police vehicle after a short while.

Xiao Hai, 19 years old, from Beijing, was deprived the right of attending the college entrance exam on July 2 by his high school for refusing to give up Falun Gong.
[Beijing] Inhumane Mistreatments in the Huairou County Detention Center
On the morning of February 5, the Chinese New Year's Day, dozens of fellow practitioners and I practiced Falun Gong together at the Huairou Park. Before we could finish the second exercise, a group of police pushed us onto the truck and took us to the courtyard of the Detention Center. About 10 minutes later, a group of armed police circled us. Then, they started to take us away to interrogate us. Later, I was given the criminal detention.
As soon as I entered the Detention Center, a few police on duty said, "Since you won't let us have a good New Year's Da, Your punishment is to stand outside to freeze in the yard." Then they forced me to take off my cotton-padded trousers and to stand barefooted on the icy ground with only underwear on. I stood out there in the cold wind for about one hour and I was not allowed to move. All I could do was to bite my teeth to bear the treatment.
An hour later, the guard allowed me to enter the cell while holding my clothes. As soon as I entered the cell, the guard ordered the inmate criminals to give me a supposed bath, of which about 11 tubs of cold water were poured down on me. Following, they forced me to recite the rules in the jail and did not allow me to have any breakfast. They gave me two steam buns and half a bowl of soup at 4pm. About 10 minutes later after I had my meal, I was called to the office of the guard. The guard asked me to take off my upper clothes and to lie on the ground. One of them took an electrical club to shock me all over the body. I rolled all over the ground. When I touched the office desk, they would kick and beat me madly. Thus like that, they had shocked me for about one hour. I could not bear any longer, and screamed "I could not stand it anymore!" They then shocked me more intensely and said, "Would you still continue to practice Falun Gong?" I yelled three times, "Yes! Yes! Yes!" Then they became even more brutal. And then dipped the electrical club into my mouth. I could not bear that kind of suffering and then swung my head with force so that the electrical club got out of my mouth. They then slapped my mouth and used the shoes to slap my face, till my face bled. Another guard asked me to wash my face. However, this guard also asked me to lie on the ground. He sit on a chair and shocked me with the electrical club and sneered, "Which is more capable? Falun Gong or the electrical club?" 5 to 6 minutes later, they sent me back to the cell.
[Chengdu] A Female College Student Suffered Inhumane Mistreatment
Practitioner Dai Xing, a sophomore from the Industrial Institute of Sichuan, had been suspended from schoolings for one year after being detained for having gone to Beijing to appeal for Falun Gong in last December.
In this May, she got detained again for exchanging experience with other practitioners. She was immediately given criminal detention at the Lianhua Village Detention Center afterwards. In the Detention Center, she and another 12 practitioners had been put on heavy shackles intended for male criminals for over 20 days just because she said she was not a criminal and would not recite the rules of jail. After over 20 days, her clothes reeked. When she was finally released, her hands and feet were bloody from the shackles. Her socks stuck together with her heels from the blood and could not be detached. Her sweat and blood had flown into the lock of the shackles, and it took the police a very long time to open the lock for her with the help of many other people. Up to now, Dai Xing has not recovered from the bruises.
In addition, practitioner Luo Zhijun, a student from the Industrial Institute of Sichuan was forced to quit school for practicing Falun Gong in the public area. Practitioner Chen Mingyong, a graduate student from the Industrial Institute of Sichuan is being detained in the Jail located at the Ningxia Street of Chengdu City waiting for heavy sentence, for being suspected to have written an open letter to Mr. Annan to report the truth of Falun Gong.
