On December 10, 2000, practitioners from different areas of the UK gathered in London for International Human Rights Day. They first organized a group practice in front of the Chinese Embassy and then marched in a parade. Two deputies from Amnesty International participated in the activities. After the group practice, about a hundred practitioners formed a long line, holding all kinds of signs in yellow, with yellow "Falun Dafa" banners on their shoulders. Accompanied by the music "Pudu" and Jishi," they marched slowly in a solemn and respectful manner.
Two young Dafa practitioners walked in the front of the parade holding a white wreath, followed by practitioners wearing black armbands upon which were written the names of the ninety five Dafa practitioners that have lost their lives in the persecution. They carried signs in both Chinese and English which read, "Stop the Crackdown on Falun Gong," and "Falun Gong: Truthfulness, Benevolence, Forbearance." The long parade passed through the busiest major business centers, including the famous Oxford Street, then went into London's Chinatown, the largest in Europe. After bypassing Pigeon Square, they eventually reached 10 Downing Street -- the British Prime Minster's residence.
On this day, the Dafa music was reverberating all over London. The onlookers in the streets were impressed by the Dafa practitioners' refined expressions. The pedestrians couldn't wait to read the Dafa newspapers and other materials. Many just stopped to read them in the street. When the parade marched into Chinatown, the atmosphere immediately became somber and imposing. The Chinese and Western people on the sidewalks seemed surprised, while restaurant owners and their customers watched the marchers slowly go by. The impressive "Pudu" music, with its tremendously benevolent energy, strongly affected people's hearts. Some of them burst into tears on the street, sighing, "So ninety five practitioners have died!"
At the gate of 10 Downing Street, the Dafa practitioners formed into three lines. One line across the street held the Dafa banners, while the other two lines demonstrated Dafa exercises. The British Falun Dafa Buddha's Study Association handed the Prime Minister a petition signed by ten thousand five hundred forty London residents which requested that the Chinese government immediately stop the crackdown on Falun Gong. The British practitioners also gave the Prime Minster a letter asking for help from the British government in stopping the persecution. The Deputy Prime Minster accepted the petition and the letter, and promised to transfer them to Prime Minster Blair in person. When we were leaving, the Prime Minster's wife walked into the residence. She saw the Dafa practitioners doing their gentle exercises and holding the banner that read, "Truthfulness, Benevolence, Forbearance." The parade also attracted the British media. Four local radio stations came to interview practitioners on the spot. BBC radio covers the entire UK, while two other radios stations cover London and the surrounding townships. BBC's international Chinese station also made a live broadcast. All of the media expressed their strong support for Falun Gong. The practitioners explained the truth about Falun Gong carefully and revealed the Chinese government's evil deeds to the public.
The policemen left us at the beginning of the parade, and no police were necessary later as well. The policemen told us, "You are good people." They never thought we would cause any trouble.
At the end of Human Rights Day, the participating practitioners all felt very happy. A young practitioner said that he had seen a huge, multicolor Falun rotating in the sky while practicing the exercises at the Prime Minster's residence on Downing Street. The practitioners all had a feeling that the Teacher was right beside us. After the rain, two rising rainbows also looked auspicious and beautiful. With a joyful heart, the practitioners gathered to study the Fa in the evening.
