During an official visit of the French President to inspect a hospital, a French practitioner working in the field of medical science spoke about Falun Gong with President Jacques Chirac, who promised to do his best to help. On December 21, Mr. Chirac was inaugurating a new, ultra-modern hospital in Paris. He first made a two-hour tour of the hospital, accompanied by 20 or so high-level officials and people of the medical field. Among them was a Western practitioner working in the field of biological research. During the visit, Chirac initiated a conversation with a practitioner who came to greet him. The practitioner then took advantage of this good opportunity,"Hello Mr. President! It is a great honor to meet you!" The practitioner mentioned his name and the hospital where he worked. Upon hearing his name, the president nodded to indicate that he recognized the practitioner by reputation. After a cordial handshake, the practitioner mentioned to the President that he was hoping to give him some special documents. As Chirac encouraged him to do so, this practitioner gave him the "Real Story" leaflet in French, and an appeal letter. These two documents revealed the crimes committed by President Jiang and the huge number of victims of his repression. Mr. Chirac expressed a lot of interest, and said he would read the information carefully. When the practitioner mentioned to him the building of concentration camps in China as an example of the gravity of the repression, the President said he knew about the situation, and that he would try to do more to help. "I will do the best I can," he said. After the President left, France's First Lady, Mrs. Bernadette Chirac, came up to the practitioner and shook his hand with sincerity. During the remainder of the visit, several other officials who were travelling with the President were also given the "Real Story" leaflet. Many appreciated this information. Professor Chabrol, well-known in France in the field of cardiology, was especially thankful for the materials. Practitioners in France 12/21/00
