The Amnesty International Conference of Eleven States in the Southern America Region was held in Atlanta from November 10th to 12th. The topic of this conference was "Combine all the righteous forces in the international community to stop the evil and dictatorial violent behavior." As special guests of this conference, Atlanta Falun Dafa practitioners participated in all the events and presented a special report titled "Jiang Zemin's Government brutally persecuted Falun Gong Practitioners". We called on all kind-hearted people in the international community to help us and stop the evil and violent behavior conducted by Jiang Zemin and his followers. This year, Amnesty International in the southern American region emphasized how to cooperate in the "Campaign Against Torture" which was recently initiated by Amnesty International. It will mobilize the sense of making joint efforts in the international community and work with different officials and civilian channels to put pressure on the few governments that use violence to rule their countries and to stop the brutalities in those countries. Several hundred representatives from eleven states including Texas, Florida, and Alabama participated in the conference. They came from different backgrounds and social classes. There were high school students, college organizations, representatives from non-profit organizations, news media, civilian groups and community organizations, etc.
In front of the conference registration booth, we displayed all kinds of posters and material that exposed the vicious and violent behavior carried out by Jiang Zemin and his followers. It also revealed the facts of their persecution towards Falun Gong practitioners. Introductory information about Falun Gong and material describing the real situations of Falun Gong practitioners in China were also displayed. The videotapes of Master Li's exercise instruction and "Falun Gong Real Story Part I & II" were repeatedly played on a TV screen. The scenes of the calm and peaceful exercises of Falun Gong practitioners formed a vivid contrast to the violence of the policemen in Tiananmen Square. Everyone who attended the conference criticized the brutality carried out by a few Chinese Government leaders. They also took many material in order to bring the information back to their local residents. Prior to the end of the conference, a college professor of human rights from Texas returned to our booth to make sure that he had gotten all the material.
In one of the seminars on "Stop the Torture", the host asked the question "what is torture". One of the audience gave the example of Falun Gong practitioners being tortured in China, and he said: "This is what is called torture."
A young man from Alabama talked with practitioners. He was wearing a pin, "I support Falun Gong". He bought the last T-Shirt "I support Falun Gong" from us. Before he left, he gave us his e-mail address and wrote down "You changed my life" on the front.
Through this event, we deeply realized that at the same time that we try to improve ourselves in telling the truth through hongfa (spreading Fa), we should also let those who have already learned the truth to help us actively. We should provide them with suggestions, material and opportunities to enable them to tell the truth to others. After realizing this, we wrote a suggestion letter on how to help. We distributed this letter to the representatives on the last day of the conference.
We have also come to a deep understanding of what Master Li has pointed out in his speech on the recent U. S. Western Falun Dafa Experience Sharing Conference: "On the surface, we're seeking public support for Dafa. This is the thinking of the worldly human side, manifest in this human place. Yet it's reversed on the other side. Whoever supports Dafa or advocates for Dafa is establishing for himself his being's existence in the future and is laying a foundation for obtaining the Fa in the future."
