Yao Baorong, 52, was a resident of Anning County, Lanzhou (City). She was detained for appealing for Falun Gong in Beijing in 1999. Then, as a Falun Dafa practitioner, Ms.Yao was taken into police custody without any justification a few more times. On May 17 of this year, the Lanzhou Public Security took her away while she was studying Fa from her residence. Then on May 19, Ms. Yao was pronounced dead when somehow she fell to ground from the fifth floor of the Anning Public Security Branch Station. At first the Public Security personnel there tried to blame the death on her taking drugs. Then they switched their story to her committing suicide. Meanwhile, the Public Security isolated and moved out the other practitioners, who witnessed what really happened, so as to block out the truth.
Ms. Yao's corpse was kept frozen at the Lanzhou Air Force Hospital and viewing was not allowed. A practitioner, Mr. Li Winming from Qili County, went to the hospital to take a last look at Ms. Yao. Then he was detained by the Public Security and sent to Pinantai Labor Education Camp. Another practitioner, Mr. Fu Yenyuan, was almost arrested while offering his condolences to Yao's family. Through his arguing for the right of expressing consolation and refusing to get into the police car, as well as by the supporting voices of the watching crowd, Mr. Fu luckily escaped the Public Security's mistreatment toward him. Despite the risk of being suppressed, more and more fellow practitioners showed their care by visiting Yao's family or sending flowers in her memory.
Upon hearing that the Public Security was going to secretly cremate Yao, some practitioners rushed to the mortuary of the hospital at 2:10 a.m. on May 23. We were there only to find that Yao's body had been transported hastily at the escort of three police cars to the Hualingshan crematory for the forced secret cremation.
In her life, Ms. Yao practiced Falun Dafa very well per the Master's teachings. She worked hard and solidly, respecting and enjoying her job. After her appealing in Beijing, Ms. Yao lost her official title at work and the fines reduced her salary to almost zero. Sometimes with only 90 yuan (Chinese dollars; the monthly salary of an average worker in China is about 500 yuan) per month, she still reported to work diligently and without any complaint. Co-workers and neighbors all considered Ms. Yao as a nice, innocent, and hard-working person. But such a good person died during this persecution sanctioned by Jiang Zemin!
Ms. Yao's family members have lost their personal freedom while under house arrest by the Public Security since her passing away. Her elder brother went insane, as he could not stand the loss of a sister. The government taking away her life for her firm belief in Falun Gong was too cruel a fact for him to face or accept.
Vicious people messing up good people and their families will be held accountable for what they did wrong. They shall pay for their sins. To speak out for Falun Gong's unprecedented suffering from the unjust allegations imposed on it is to safeguard all the future lives. All of you, people with good conscience and upright minds, please help us disclose the evil happening in China.
