Dear kind-hearted American people, government and foreign institutions in the US and human rights groups:
On October 1, Jiang Zemin dared to order the army and the police to cruelly beat and violently arrest more than one thousand Falun Gong practitioners in Beijing's Tiananmen Square, and at the same time he defied the United Nations Human Rights Declarations that China has signed, violated the political, societal and moral principles generally observed by the international community and also ignored the kindness expressed towards the situation by people all over the world. Jiang once again committed an unforgivable crime.
Presently, there are tens of thousands of Falun Gong practitioners who are being thrown into jails and imprisoned for extensive periods of time simply because they insist on continuing to practice Falun Gong. According to an incomplete investigation, the longest sentence given was 18 years; hundreds of forms of torment have been used; 56 people died from being brutally tortured; over 600 people were inhumanely sent to the mental hospital and forcefully injected poisonous medicine; hundreds of thousands of people have lost their jobs and normal living conditions and have been forced to leave their hometowns. Their lives are in great danger and many of them have been injured or disabled.
In order to firmly deter Jiang Zemin's criminal behavior that has violated the law and harmed China as a country and its people, we, Falun Gong practitioners in Washington D.C., US, decided to hold a candle light vigil once every week in front of the Chinese Embassy, in order to urge the Chinese government to help stop Jiang's impudent crime and to resolve the Falun Gong issue peacefully.
We sincerely, call upon all kind-hearted individuals and institutions in the United States to join our petition and help us to urge the Chinese government to immediately put an end to Jiang Zemin's illegal persecution of Falun Gong.
Contents: Stop killing Falun Gong practitioners, stop persecuting Falun Gong practitioners and stop torturing Falun Gong practitioners with all sorts of excruciating forms of torment.

Our petition will not end until Jiang Zemin stops the brutal persecution of Falun Gong practitioners and all of the Falun Gong practitioners are released unconditionally.
