Thailand Falun Dafa Experience Sharing and Public Introduction Activities

September 29 - October 5, 2000 - Thailand

The delegation of 57 practitioners from Taiwan, Singapore, and Macau traveled to Thailand to introduce Falun Dafa in Bangkok, Chieng Mai and Chieng Rai. Mr. Hong G Hong led the group from Taiwan. They also brought news to Thai practitioners from the New York Experience Sharing in September who did not travel to New York.

Saturday, September 29 - The delegation and local practitioners practiced and Introduced Falun Dafa to the public at Suan (Park) Lumpini from 6 - 11 am. There were about 50 people with a predestined relationship learning the exercises on the spot. Some Caucasian tourists started learning the exercises right away from our Swedish practitioner friend who is living in Thailand for one year. We distributed several thousand pieces of Dafa materials to the park visitors. The environment was very good under the watchful eyes of the Thai non-uniformed police who took photos of practitioners. The police arrived at the request of the Chinese Embassy, which voiced their concerns to the Thai government. All practitioners got to exchange their understanding of Dafa.

In the afternoon and evening, we studied the Fa (great law) and shared cultivation experiences at the Hotel. We also contacted media including the Chinese newspaper "Shijie Ribao", Thailand's leading newspaper "Matichon" the "Thai Post", and Thailand English newspapers the "Bangkok Post" and "The Nation". The delegation was available to be interviewed by the newspapers and observe our practice Sunday morning.

Sunday, October 1 - The delegation and local practitioners practiced, introduced Falun Dafa to the public and gave interviews at Suan (Park) Benjasiri on Sukhumvit Road from 6 - 11 am. There were a few people attending the park due to Olympic gold medal boxing competition in which Thailand won its only gold medal. Mr. Hong G Hong and the interviewed practitioners explained the true facts regarding the situation of Falun Gong in China to the newspapers with very good results. The news reports were fair with sound judgment although some editors still used some pejorative words to describe our Falun Dafa. The "Bangkok Post" reported news about the brutal arrests at Tiananmen on October 1. The "Bangkok Post" editorial called for major western nations to threaten China with a boycott to achieve good human right results. "Matichon" reported the background of Falun Dafa, the concerns of the Chinese Embassy, Thai Foreign Ministry officers and Thai security police. "Matichon" correctly stated that Falun Dafa practitioners don't break any Thai laws and explained our wishes for peaceful resolution with the Chinese Government.

Afterwards, we introduced Falun Dafa to the public again by distributing thousands of flyers in the center of Bangkok. Late morning we handed out flyers near the "Four-face god" in the area of the World Trade Center. After Lunch, we passed out flyers outside of the Emerald Buddha Temple in the area of the Grand Palace. The Police did not allow us to enter the temple to distribute flyers. Anyway, thousands of lucky people including several bus-loads of tourists from Mainland China received Dafa materials and positive information of Dafa.

In the evening, we shared experiences and planned how to promote Fa in the future.

Monday, October 2 - One group flew to introduce the public in Chieng Mai and Chieng Rai near Burmese border to Falun Dafa. The other group distributed flyers in Chinatown from 10 am - 3 pm. We distributed about 2000 flyers to the people in Chinatown. In the evening, we studied Fa (great law ) and shared experiences at the Hotel. We gave an interview to the AFP (Agency France Presse) wire service and to the BBC World Broadcast radio by telephone from England for 5 minutes. The Chieng Mai group also gave a telephone interview to the Taiwan Press - Bangkok Office.

Tuesday, October 3 - We practiced and introduced Falun Dafa at Suan Benjasiri again. This time, the "Nation TV" video taped our practice and interviewed us about the background of Falun Gong, the situation in China, the purpose of the delegation, etc.. The news footage was aired in the evening across Thailand with footage from Tiananmen and Falun Dafa around the world.

We distributed Dafa materials to over 10,000 people in Thailand. The Bangkok group flew back to their homes in Singapore and Taiwan in the evening. We would like to present our deep gratitude to their kind hearts and we hope that we will meet again.

Thai practitioners received chances to upgrade their xinxing in the following areas:

1. Some practitioners are very shy. They had never introduced Falun Dafa in public before. Because of this special environment, they were able to overcome their attachment and continue to introduce Falun Dafa to a larger number of people in the future.

2. The Chinese Embassy threatened to confiscate or refuse to issue a passport to Chinese practitioners. (Serious offense of Thai law which can result in forced repatriation to one's native country.) However, some practitioners also stepped forward for this special occasion.

3. To step forward openly by featuring in newspaper and TV news. Many practitioners' families are afraid of incurring trouble from the authorities. This gave us a good chance to hongfa, be firm, and explain to them correctly.

4. We also learned how to plan and introduce Falun Dafa to the public by sharing experiences with Taiwan and Singapore practitioners.

5. More practitioners are more determined about Dafa. Many have decided to follow Master closely. We have two more volunteers to translate Dafa materials in the future.

6. We had one heavy rainstorm in Bangkok on Friday night to welcome the delegation. Although it is a rainy season in Thailand, there were only two light drizzles: the first was on Saturday morning during the first half of the fifth exercise, the second was during the public introduction activities outside the Emerald Buddha temple. The rest of the time until their departure was sunny and not too hot.

7. Many found that by working and melting into Dafa, any obstacles can be overcome with wuwei (state of non-attachment) and using one's wisdom. If we are not afraid, obstacles will not materialize.
