Since the revelation of the Chinese Communist Party's (CCP) atrocity of harvesting organs from living Falun Gong practitioners in March 2006, the international community has widely condemned it. The independent investigative report on this matter released by the Canadian investigation team re-confirmed the existence of such unprecedented evil on Earth. Besides the general public who expressed their indignation, the medical community has also increasingly recognized the CCP atrocity, and discussed the actions they should take in dealing with this situation.

A forum on the CCP live organ harvesting at Barnes-Jewish Hospital in St. Louis

On the morning of April 25, 2007, a forum was held at the Steinberg Auditorium in the famous Barnes-Jewish Hospital in St. Louis, Missouri, with the theme being "Controversies in Organ Transplantation, Training Transplant Surgeons." The forum was jointly hosted by the Center for the Study of Ethics and Human Values at the Washington University School of Medicine and Student Chapter of Physicians for Human Rights. The major speakers invited included deputy director of Program for Human Rights and Medicine at the University of Minnesota, Kirk Allison, Professor of Medicine at Washington University School of Medicine and chair of the ethics committee at Barnes-Jewish Hospital in St. Louis, Stephen Lefrak, and assistant professor of Surgery at the School of Medicine at Washington University, Niraj M. Desai. Dozens of hospital-based surgeons in the audience listened attentively to their speeches.

Mr. Allison outlined the situation in China where there has been a mass seizure of organs from prisoners. He also cited the evidence and conclusion from the investigative report done by Canadian investigation team David Kilgour and David Matas, to discuss the relationship between the CCP's harvesting of organs from living Falun Gong practitioners and the massive surge of organ transplants in recent years in China.

Professor Lefrak discussed how medical institutions should deal with such inhuman acts as harvesting organs, and whether training should be stopped for organ transplant surgeons from China, the strengthening of medical ethics education and morality for those organ transplant surgeons who come for training, and whether or not the strengthening of medical ethics education for doctors in a dictatorial system as in China plays any role for stopping the harvesting of organs from living people, and other topics.

The organizer of the forum, Professor Ira Kodner, is director of the Center for the Study of Ethics and Human Values at Washington University School of Medicine. He had attended a forum held by Falun Gong practitioners to expose the CCP harvesting of organs from living people in August 2006. This time, he especially invited several Falun Gong practitioners to observe the forum.

After the forum, Falun Gong practitioner Carol said that she was glad to see people pay attention to the matter of the CCP harvesting organs from living Falun Gong practitioners. This was a spontaneous action taken by those in medical community who have learned about the facts. It is very important to spread facts about the true situation and take active measures in the medical community, and it is also conducive to putting an end to the atrocity soon.

Falun Gong practitioner Ms. Su said that several dozen surgeons from the hospital who attended the forum showed great concerns over this matter. No one questioned the validity of the CCP harvesting of organs from living people. As for these professionals, it is obvious that the body of evidence and data point to the same conclusion. People are now discussing what they can do, and how they should do it. This is a good trend. She hopes that people can take quicker and more resolute measures to help stop the CCP atrocity.

On April 29, 2007, Surabaya, Indonesia celebrated the 714^th anniversary of the founding of the city, and invited many groups from different places to take part in a grand parade. Local Falun Gong practitioners were invited, and the Divine Land Marching Band composed of Taiwan Falun Gong practitioners also came from afar to add to the joy of the celebration. However, at the behest of the Chinese Communist Party (CCP), the sponsor stopped the Falun Gong group and the Divine Land Marching Band from participating in the parade at the last minute. Falun Gong practitioners condemned the CCP for trampling upon Indonesian citizens' basic human rights.

The Falun Gong group has been invited to take part in the parade in Surabaya in recent years, and their float and celestial maidens' dance performances have been well received by the local people. They were once presented an award by the city mayor. This year, Indonesia Falun Gong practitioners especially invited Taiwan's Divine Land Marching Land composed of more than 170 practitioners to come to perform. There was also a waist drummers' troupe, a flag troupe and a celestial maiden's troupe that were composed of Falun Gong practitioners from different places in Indonesia, including Jakarta, Medan, Bali, and Batam. This year had the largest scale procession and the largest number of people participating compared with previous years.

However, three days ahead of the parade, the sponsor of the city suddenly informed the Falun Gong group that they could not participate in the parade this year, without giving any reason. Falun Gong representatives asked to meet with the mayor and deputy-mayor, but to no avail. Ms. Yayuk from the sponsor finally replied, "You do not need to try any more, this is because of the pressure from the CCP."

The coordinator of the Falun Gong group in Surabaya, Mr. Yang said, "We could not find the mayor, neither the deputy-mayor. It is said that they were invited to go to travel in mainland China. We had to go to seek help from human rights organizations." The person in charge of the human rights organization said, "The Indonesian citizens have the right to freedom of association and assembly. The sponsor had no reason to refuse the Falun Gong group from exercising their rights as citizens, to celebrate in their city's festival. You can certainly participate."

On April 29, the parade route was fully packed with people. The Falun Gong group was given the No. 27 spot in the parade procession, but the police insisted on preventing them from marching, and also refused the Divine Land Marching Band that came from afar. As the traffic was very busy, more than 170 members of the marching band were stranded at the site, so they simply performed on the spot in front of the City Hall, on the square opposite the provincial governor's house. Their grand performance attracted many people's attention. They were amazed and asked where the performers were from.

Regarding the practitioners being stopped from taking part in the parade, Mr. Yang said, "It can be seen that the police contradict themselves, they sympathized with us, but had to execute orders from higher authorities. The Divine Land Marching Band especially came from Taiwan at our invitation. More than a hundred people have come to Surabaya, but were prohibited from performing, which doesn't make sense. The Divine Land Marching Band's impromptu performance convinced the police, who kept saying thanks to the practitioners."

According to Falun Gong practitioner Mdm Huang in charge of the Divine Land Marching Band, the boss of the hotel where the band stayed told her that the hotel received a phone call on April 30, asking what the Divine Land Marching Band would do in Surabaya.

Falun Gong practitioner Mr. He who works at a local company revealed that he was being threatened. He said that the assistant manager of his company received a phone call from an "Indonesia-China Friendly Association," asking the company to handle the matter of him participating in the parade. If not, it would call the police to arrest him. Mr. He said, "Obviously, we were threatened."

Ms. Chen, coordinator of the Surabaya Falun Dafa Association said, "We consulted a lawyer. The lawyer said we have a legal right to participate in a civil activity, which should not be suppressed." Ms. Chen also said, "Since the Chinese Consulate set up an office in Surabaya this year, it has started infiltrating and manipulating the Indonesian community. The sponsor of the city parade candidly told us that they were under the CCP's pressure. This is an example. The CCP uses economic benefits and other elements to infringe upon Indonesian citizens' rights, and extends the persecution of Falun Gong from mainland China to overseas. It is a shameful and despicable act and should be condemned by the Indonesian people."

On "April 25," 1999, Falun Gong practitioners in China made a peaceful appeal for the release of their fellow practitioners who had been detained in Tianjin, asking for a better environment where Falun Gong practitioners could practice exercises, and also for legal publication of Falun Dafa books. On the very same day, eight years later, Falun Gong practitioners in Munich, Germany expressed the same peace, reason, and kindness in their letter to the Chinese Consulate, calling on its staff to realize the current situation so that they would not further aid the tyranny. In this way, they could have a chance to choose a bright future. The letter read as follows.

Officials and staff in the Chinese Consulate,

On April 25, 1999, Chinese Falun Gong practitioners launched a peaceful appeal, which seemed like it happened yesterday. On the very same day, eight years later, the appeal in our letter to you remains the same: Promptly stop the persecution of Falun Gong practitioners, have a clear understanding of the current situation, don't further aid the tyrant in his tyranny, and choose a bright future for yourself.

The following marks the differences between today and eight years ago:

--Among the plentiful Falun Gong practitioners who made a peaceful appeal for Falun Gong, many of them are still being illegally imprisoned, or have died as a result of the persecution, or were forced to be jobless and homeless with their whereabouts unknown. According to incomplete statistics, since July 20, 1999, more than 3,024 practitioners have been verified as having died as a result of the persecution in over 30 provinces, autonomous regions and municipalities.

Let me ask you, what kind of evil force would inflict such a national disaster and an endless persecution upon a group of people who believe in "Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance," and focus on cultivation?

--More Westerners, western groups and governments have listened to us tell them the facts about the persecution of Falun Gong. No longer blinded by the Chinese Communist Party's (CCP) deceitful lies, they even proactively help us to inform more and more people of the facts and to bring an end to the CCP's brutal violence. Through various channels, more Chinese people better understand who Falun Gong practitioners are and why we want to freely walk outdoors to expose the persecution of Falun Gong.

--The publication of the "Nine Commentaries on the Communist Party" started the overwhelming tide of defection from the CCP. Over 21 million Chinese people have defected from the CCP organizations. The final days of the CCP are being counted. Heaven will eliminate the CCP in the very near future.

--At such a critical moment in human history, of your counterparts, some chose a bright future for themselves. For instance, Chen Yonglin in Australia and Zhang Jiyan in Canada announced that they quit the CCP, and revealed the CCP's criminal behaviors. Of your counterparts, some chose darkness, though. Pan Xinchun, the Deputy Consul General in Toronto, was convicted of libel for attacking a Canadian Falun Gong practitioner in a Canadian newspaper article. The Ontario Superior Court of Justice ordered him to pay 1,000 CAD. As it turned out, Pan was the first Chinese ambassador who was convicted for being Jiang Zemin's accomplice in persecuting Falun Gong practitioners. As an ambassador who had been announced guilty in the Western society based on complete and public court procedures, Pan Xinchun was downright disreputable, and has a dark future awaiting him. Likewise, Huang Huikang, the Minister Counselor and Consul General in Canada, is awaiting trial.

Consequently, we hope that you can give serious consideration to your future. As China's representatives in foreign countries, at this critical moment in human history, would you choose a bright future by quitting the CCP before Heaven eliminates it? Or would you ruin your future and wait for your doom by aiding the tyrant in his further tyranny?

We sincerely hope that you can choose a bright and beautiful future for yourselves.

Falun Gong practitioners in Munich
