On May 30, 2006, Falun Gong Practitioner Ms. Wu Hong was arrested in her home and locked up in a "Legal Eduction Center (a brainwashing center controlled by the 610 Office). On June 6, 2006, she was sent to Penglai City Hospital for emergency. She died on June 9, 2006.
It is said that Ms. Wu Hong's skull was smashed and fractured. She was in a deep coma before her death, and relied on a breathing machine. Details of her death have yet to be investigated.
On the morning of May 30, 2006, more than ten policemen and plain-clothes agents climbed over a wall and broke into Ms. Wu Hong's house, took away her computer, printer, and other items. On the same day, Falun Gong Practitioner Ms. Zhou Yumin was also arrested and detained in a detention center, while Ms. Wu Hong was sent to the brainwashing center.
Around May 31, 2006 (Duanwu Festival), several Falun Gong practitioners in Penglai City were arrested. Ms. Wang Guihua and her daughter were arrested from their home. Several more were arrested from surrounding towns. Some policemen harassed practitioners at their homes, and installed monitoring devices and phone-bugs when people were not looking.
Falun Gong practitioner Ms. Liu Yuanzhen, 62, lived at 28 Pujiang Road, Unit 2 - 8, Xiaohe District, Guiyang City, Guizhou Province.
After distributing truth-clarification materials at Dachanglong’s supermarket in May 2004, Ms. Liu Yuanzhen was kidnapped, her home was ransacked and police from Chaoyang Police Station of Guiyang City detained her for 15 days. After her release, they monitored her over a long period of time.
In December 12, 2005, depraved Zheng Yi from the 610 Office of Xiaohe District of Guiyang City and between six and seven policemen broke into Ms. Liu Yuanzhen’s home and took her to the Lannigou Brainwashing center for further persecution. Ms. Liu went on a hunger strike for seven days to protest the persecution. She was in critical health condition. Given the strong pleas by her family, the 610 Office released her. After she returned home, the evil police frequently came to her home to harass her, causing her to suffer sever physical and mental injury. Ms. Liu Yuanzhen died due to the severe persecution on May 11, 2006.
Around December 2005, the 610 Office of Guiyang City ordered policemen to arrest many Falun Gong practitioners and took them to brainwashing class. Therefore, many practitioners in Xiaohe District, Guiyang City, became homeless and had to go into hiding. Policeman Wang Yuxiang from the police substation of Xiaohe District, Guiyang City, was awarded "Superior Individual" for persecuting Falun Gong practitioners in 2004.
Falun Gong practitioner Ms. Wang Guohua was recently tortured to the point of insanity while serving an illegal sentence of eight years in the Women’s Prison of Jilin Province (Heizuizi Prison).
On March 25, 2004, while practitioners Ms. Wang Guohua, Ms. Wang Xingxiang, and Ms. Zhu Hong, from Dehui City, Jilin Province, were spreading truth clarifying materials in Guojia Town of Dehui City, policemen from Guojia Town Police Station, including Hua Guoquan, arrested them and forced a confession from them by means of torture. Policeman Hua Guoquan broke Wang Xingxiang’s arm and Ms. Wang Guohua was transferred to the first department of the Changchung City Police Station for further torture. On September 14, 2004, the Court of Dehui City illegally sentenced Ms. Wang Guohua to eight years, Ms. Wang Xingxiang to nine years, and Ms. Zhu Hong to seven years in the Women’s Prison of Jilin Province (Heizuizi Prison).
According to the family members of other prisoners, Ms. Wang Guohua has recently been persecuted to the point of insanity at Heizuizi Prison. We await further information to verify the situation.
The Hebei province "610" office along with Shijiazhuang labor camp tortured Ms. Li Huiqi during her illegal detention. She is in critical condition. Her whole body is paralyzed and she has had a tracheotomy. She has to breathe via a tube and her mind is unclear. During the few moments she is clear, all she can feel is excruciating pain all over. She is in a near vegetative state. On December 3, 2002, the labor camp inhumanly put Li Huiqi, whose life was in danger, into a hospital and never cared about her. Her older sister had to take her home to care for her. Li Huiqi has been in tribulation for 5 years. Her case is clear evidence of the cruelty of Hebei "610" terrorism and Shijiazhuang labor camp.
Li Huiqi was born in 1967 and worked at Shijiazhuang paint factory in Hebei province. On December 2, 2001, she was abducted by police in Shijiazhuang city to the Weiming street security office while clarifying truth near her work place. She was detained in Shijiazhuang First detention center for two months. On February 2, 2002, she was sentenced to one year in prison and jailed in Squadron 4, Group 2, Shijiazhuang Forced Labor Camp.
While in detention, Li Huiqi was in critical condition several times due to the torture. Her health deteriorated and her organs started showing signs of failure. Even under these circumstances, the labor camp refused to release her. Her family went to visit her. They demanded to see her and asked to bail her out for medical treatment, but all of their demands were rudely turned down. Guard Qiao Xiaoxia claimed, "Falun Gong followers don’t have visiting days. It’s not for Falun Gong followers!"
On April 9, 2002, two months into her detention, she was once again in critical condition. Fearful that they would be held responsible for her death, the labor camp sent Li Huiqi to Hebei province People’s hospital for urgent care.
At that time, Li Huiqi was very bony and had multiple organ failure. Her blood pressure was undetectable and she relied on a machine to breathe.
Only after ruthlessly torturing her to her last breath was her family notified and allowed to visit her in the hospital. Only then did her family get the opportunity to see her.
Li Huiqi frequently fell unconscious and struggled on the edge of life and death. Even so, the labor camp still did not stop the persecution against her and her family. While she was hospitalized, they sent five police outside the ward and three plain-clothes police inside the ward to monitor her twenty-four hours a day. They also seized the opportunity to arrest practitioners who visited her. They were afraid that their crime would be exposed and so they painstakingly blocked any news from getting out.
During her treatment, policeman Zhou Yilin twice failed to pay the medical expenses, causing the hospital to stop the treatment and her life was once again in critical condition. In order to save her, her family was forced to buy medicine at their own expense. Zhou Yilin once said furiously to the doctors and nurses: don’t try to rescue her if her life is in critical condition again.
Because Li Huiqi missed the opportunity for medical treatment while being detained, it was very difficult to treat her. When she was urgently treated, the doctors thought it was the due to a problem in her abdominal cavity. They therefore cut open her abdominal cavity when she was extremely weak. However, they did not find anything wrong. They then stitched the incision, causing her to suffer additional pain. After the surgery, she fell unconscious, had a high fever, and experienced difficulty breathing. Later she was subjected to a "waist vertebral injection," which was hard to endure even for healthy people. Because she had difficulty breathing, they did a tracheotomy on her. Consequently, she developed a severe lung infection.
On May 30, 2002 when Li Huiqi was transferred to Hebei provincial Third Hospital, she was in critical condition. The tubing blocked her airway. When they finally discovered this, she was already unconscious. She only had a heartbeat after urgent treatment for twenty minutes. Because she was extremely bony, she developed bedsores. The largest sore covered an area of 3 x 4 cm2. Such a large bedsore had never been seen before. It penetrated to the bone, causing her tailbone to become nearly exposed.
In the end, Li Huiqi was paralyzed and unconscious. She had urinary tract infection, severe lung infection, sustained tracheotomy, and frequent seizures. The doctors applied emergency procedures many times. Her family prepared for her funeral three times.
On December 3, 2002, in such a condition, the director of the Fourth Team and policeman Zhou Yilin even left Li Huiqi in the hospital and never cared for her, using the excuse of "her [detention] time is up." Thus such a paralyzed person was forcefully pushed back to her family. They single-handedly denied responsibility for the victim. They refused to have her treated and discontinued the medical treatment in Hebei Third Hospital.
Her family repeatedly contacted Zhao Jinlong, the director of labor camp. Realizing that he did not have a good excuse, Zhao Jinlong avoided answering their phone calls. At last, he replied: "Her time is up. She has nothing to do with us. Her case is over." Finally, in despair, her family had to take her home on December 13, 2002. Ever since then her family, already driven to poverty, has suffered enormous financial crisis and endless mental torture.
At present, Li Huiqi is still suffering excruciating pain that frequently causes her seizures. Her life is in great danger. Now she is completely incapable of caring for herself. Her older sister is caring for her and always stays near her.
Long after Li Huiqi was released from the hospital, there have been police cars and police near her home to monitor and follow her. Even now there are still plain-clothes police hired by the 610 office to stay near her home to make sure their crimes are not exposed. They constantly harass Li and her family. The most recent harassment occurred on May 20, 2006. No one cared about Li Huiqi’s life. At present the killers are still free in Shijiazhuang and continue to commit wrongdoings.
Falun Gong practitioner Wang Jianguo from Jilin City was 30 years old. While working at his family restaurant on March 2, 2006, five agents from the Nanjing Street Police Precinct of the Chuanying Police Branch Office in Jilin City arrested him. Mr. Wang tried to escape but was caught. There were then mud marks on Mr. Wang’s face but no noticeable traces of bruising. His leather jacket was not torn either. While arresting Mr. Wang and his wife, the police illegally searched their place and seized their belongings. During the ensuing interrogation process, Mr. Wang was beaten on the face and arms and his jacket was damaged (the clothes were returned to his family). In the middle of the night they sent Mr. Wang to the Jilin City Detention Center. Without a required physical exam and checking of legal documents, the detention center accepted him. Mr. Wang protested with a hunger strike.
On March 3, a prison guard went to talk to Wang Jianguo. Mr. Wang told him the truth about Falun Gong and expressed his determination of remaining on hunger strike until the day he would be unconditionally released. Three days later the detention center officials ordered him to be force-fed, completely violating the principle to apply this method only when the patient is in critical condition or the abdominal pressure falls to zero. Since Mr. Wang would not cooperate with them, they attempted to subdue him with cruel force-feeding twice a day. Using the difficult process as an excuse, the police planned to inject Mr. Wang with unknown drugs, which he refused to comply with. In the meantime he clarified the truth to the prison guards and prison doctors, advising them not to participate in the persecution. He told them that he was innocent, was illegally arrested and taken there by agents from the Nanjing Street Police Precinct. That is why he could not [in good conscience] eat the prison food and had to protest with a hunger strike.
The brutal forced feeding further impaired Mr. Wang’s health. As the result of torture, Mr. Wang showed severe symptoms of nausea and vomiting on March 8. To shirk the responsibility, the detention center staff sent Mr. Wang to a hospital with the excuse of a physical exam and actually planned to persecute him further. Mr. Wang was then regarded to be in critical condition but the detention center officials still did not release him. Because Mr. Wang never cooperated with them, with the assistance of prisoners, three police officers were sent to force-feed him twice a day. In the meantime they exerted pressure on him by making him talk to the case-handling department. Due to the severe coercion, Mr. Wang started to take in water but still refused food. He wasted no time to clarify the truth of Falun Gong to the people who tortured him.
During the process a prisoner called Sun Jifeng was ordered by police to spend every day with Mr. Wang and torment him. Mr. Wang’s physical condition declined during that period, but he insisted on protesting with a hunger strike and telling the truth of Falun Gong to the police and prisoners who persecuted him.
During the illegal incarceration period Mr. Wang was not transferred to the unsettled ward seven days after admission as the rule states. Instead, he has been constantly subjected to savage force-feeding by several people. Mr. Wang persevered and resisted the persecution by protesting with a hunger strike and clarifying the truth about Falun Gong, but the persecutors have shown no sympathy at all. Even after declaring the formal arrest of Mr. Wang on March 22 and putting him under tremendous mental pressure, they didn’t transfer him to a less harsh unsettled ward. Instead, they kept him in the transitional zone to torment him. In fact, Mr. Wang had difficulty walking at that time and could not go to the restroom without someone supporting his arms.
When the prison doctor gave Mr. Wang a physical exam on April 9 he was extremely weak and his blood pressure was only 80/74 mm Hg. He showed symptoms of being in critical condition when receiving ruthless force-feeding. On April 10, Mr. Wang was sent to hospital for a checkup. He insisted to walk into the hospital. He had severe heart problems then, but under orders from the detention center, the hospital planned to force-feed him through his nose.
Before Mr. Wang died, Wang Shouyi from the Chuanying Police Precinct Office had interrogated Mr. Wang. He didn’t cooperate with them and was sent back to the detention center at noon. During the noon break, the manager of the ward, prison guards, prison doctors and prisoners constantly tormented him . When Mr. Wang was on the brink of death they didn’t rescue him. He was already dead when he arrived at the hospital, and the hospital refused to accept him. Yet, Wang Shouyi said, "It’s not a big deal since many people died during a hunger strike!"
After the tragedy happened, the detention center didn’t notify Mr. Wang Jianguo's family in a timely manner. To shirk the responsibility, they waited till April 11 to send a notification.
Enduring great suffering, Mr. Wang’s family wanted the detention center to be held accountable for Mr. Wang’s death. The detention center officials, however, fabricated lies and were very rude; even their statements contradicted the hospital’s diagnosis. This has brought Mr. Wang’s family great harm.
A brief summary of Mr. Wang’s situation when he was in unlawful police custody:
1. [Dehui City, Jilin Province] Practitioner Ma Chunli Severely Tortured
Falun Gong practitioner Ms. Ma Chunli from Dehui City, Jilin Province has been tortured at the city’s detention center for about one and a half years. She is presently in critical condition and has been sent to the Changchun City Police Hospital.
2. [Pulandian City, Liaoning Province] Practitioner Zou Benxu Illegally Detained
Falun Gong practitioner Mr. Zou Benxu was transferred to the Wafangdian City Prison and has been tortured at the Pulandian City Detention Center for nearly half a year.
3. [Wuhan City, Hubei Province] Practitioner Zheng Zhibin Sentenced to Forced Labor
Practitioner Mr. Zheng Zhibin, 29 years old, lives in the Hankou District in Wuhan City. In April 2006, personnel from Hanshui Street Police Station arrested and took him to the Etouwan Brainwashing Class for three days and then transferred him into the Qiaokou District Detention Center. Later, personnel from the Qiaokou District 610 Office sentenced him to one year of imprisonment at the Hewan Forced Labor Camp. He is skeleton-like from torture.
4. [Leqing City, Zhejiang Province] Practitioner Chen Wenying Being Tortured to Critical Condition
Practitioner Ms. Chen Wenying she has been on a hunger strike over 15 days since her arrest at the hands of "610 Office" agents. Force-feeding made her have a nose bleed; she is in critical condition.
5. [Jiangsu Province] Practitioners Ma Yingxuan and Yang Meizhong Held at the Tancheng County Detention Center
Practitioner Mr. Ma Yingxuan from Jiangsu Province, who was arrested in Tancheng County, Shandong Province, is still being held at Tancheng County Detention Center. Practitioner Ms. Yang Meizhong is still being held there as well.
6. [Dalian City, Liaoning Province] Supplemental Report about Practitioner Tian Yunhai's Persecution Experiences
Since personnel from Dalian City National Security Group arrested practitioner Mr. Tian Yunhai in July 2005, he has been illegally held in cell No.517 at the city’s Yaojia Detention Center.
In February 2006, the Ganjingzi District Court sentenced him to ten years of imprisonment without notifying his family or relatives. Tian Yunhai has appealed.
7. [Chaoyang City, Liaoning Province] Police Arrest Eight Practitioners and a Four-Year-Old Girl
At around 11:00 p.m. on June 3, 2006, personnel from the Chaoyang City Xiangyang Police Station colluded with the Chifeng City National Security Group. These agents broke into a practitioner's home near the Balipu Bridge by climbing over the yard wall. They arrested eight practitioners and a four-year-old girl. They also ransacked the home and confiscated seven or eight cell phones and other personal belongings worth 20,000 yuan. How much cash was confiscated is unclear. The practitioners are being held at the Shjiahetao Detention Center.
8. [Tianshui City, Gansu Province] Practitioner Dong Peilan Arrested
At around 4:00 p.m. on June 1, 2006, policemen from the Qinzhou District National Security Group arrested practitioner Ms. Dong Peilan. The practitioner is from the Qinzhou District, Tianshui City, Gansu Province and was arrested at the Deshengyuan Super Market in Tianshui City. She has been held at the Lu’ergou Detention Center for several days. Her husband has already been sentenced to imprisonment. Nobody takes care of their three children at home.
9. [Hengshui City, Hebei Province] Practitioner Wei Lihong Unlawfully Held at the Railway Station Police Office
On June 2, 2006, 38-year-old practitioner Ms. Wei Lihong from Hengshui City, Hebei Province planned to visit her younger brother in Beijing. As she waited at the city railway station, personnel there searched her baggage and found CDs of Master Li’s Lecture in Guangzhou. Thus, they held her at the Railway Station Police Office.
10. [Datong City, Shanxi Province] Two Practitioners Arrested for Posting Truth-Clarifying Materials
During the evening of June 3, 2006, two practitioners from the Mine District, Datong City, Shanxi Province were arrested when posting truth-clarifying materials near the Chemical Factories. One has been sent to the city detention center and the other one is still being held at the Yunquan Police Station.
11. [Rizhao City, Shandong Province] Eight Practitioners Sentenced
In January 2006, police authorities in Rizhao City, Shandong Province sentenced eight practitioners.
12. [Zibo City, Shandong Province] Practitioner Ms. Chen Arrested
At around 11:00 a.m. on May 30, 2006, policemen from the Security Section of the Mine Administration Bureau arrested practitioner Ms. Chen and sent her into the Legislative Education Center of Zibo City for brainwashing.
13. [Zoucheng City, Shandong Province] Practitioner Ms. Han Aiwen Again Arrested
In early May 2006, police arrested practitioner Ms. Han Aiwen from the Zoucheng City when she was posting truth-clarifying materials. She is currently being held at a detention center where Ms. Han went on a hunger strike to protest the persecution. She was released a few days later. Recently, personnel from the Jidong Police Station went to her work place and arrested her again.
14. [Penglai City, Shandong Province] Police Arrest Several Practitioners, Including Zhou Yumin
In May 2006, police arrested practitioners Ms. Zhou Yumin and Ms. Wu Hong from their own homes in Penglai City, Shandong Province. Police confiscated their computers, printers and other items. Police also arrested practitioner Ms. Wang Guihua and her daughter. Several practitioners from nearby towns were also arrested.
15. [Nanyang City, Henan Province] Practitioner Zhang Jianhua Arrested
Practitioner Ms. Zhang Jianhua is about 50 years old. At around 9:00 a.m. on May 31, 2006, as she clarified the truth at the Henan Oil Field in Nanyang City, electronic surveillance equipment discovered her, which led to her arrest. Her house was also searched, and Falun Gong books, Minghui Weekly Journal and truth-clarifying materials were confiscated. She was sent to the Tanghe County Detention Center for further persecution that same day.
16. [Chibi City, Hubei Province] Practitioner Zhong Shoubang Arrested
Practitioner Ms. Zhong Shoubang, 27 years old, is from Chibi City, Hubei Province. She was illegally sentenced to two and a half years of forced labor in 2000 for refusing to give up practicing Falun Gong. The sentence was issued by Chibi City Police Department. Ms. Zhong was detained in Shizishan Forced Labor Camp in Wuhan City. On June 5, 2006, personnel from the Chibi City Police Department broke into Zhong Shoubang’s house and forcibly arrested her again. Her whereabouts are unknown.
17. [Longlin County, Guangxi Province] Chen Peizhu and Several Other Practitioners Arrested
During the night of June 4, 2006, many practitioners in Longlin County studied the Fa together at Ms. Chen Peizhu’s home. They were arrested and all truth-clarifying materials were confiscated. Currently, Chen Peizhu is being held at a detention center and the police plan to detain her for a month.
18. [Suining City, Sichuan Province] Practitioner Ms. Chen Jiaxiu Under Long Term Surveillance and Has Twice Been Put into Brainwashing Classes
19. [Shanghai] Falun Gong Practitioner Bai Gendi Disappears
The Six Countries Presidential Summit Meeting will be held in Shanghai, thus lawless policemen carry out raids on practitioners. Ms. Bai Gendi and several other practitioners have been arrested.
20. [Dalian City, Liaoning Province] Practitioner Yang Ping Illegally Incarcerated at the Yaojia Detention Center
On May 24, 2006, personnel from the Hutan Police Station and some network policemen from the National Security Group in Dalian City arrested practitioner Ms. Yang Ping at work and put her into the Ganjingzi Police Station. On June 4, she was transferred to Dalian City’s Yaojia Detention Center.
21. [Jixi City, Heilongjiang Province] Four Practitioners Arrested
Policemen from the Hengshan District’s Zhangxin Mine and from Didao District National Security Group arrested practitioners Ms. Huang Xinmei and her sister from the Didao District.
Ms. Jiang Li and her mother Ms. Zhang from the Jiguan District, Jixi City were arrested. Local security guards discovered them as they were posting truth-clarifying materials and then sent them to the Jiguan District’s Yongchang Police Station.
